Waipuna Hospice

Waipuna Hospice We provide specialist medical & nursing care and support services to patients living with an illness

Waipuna Hospice is situated alongside the Wairoa river in Te Puna, just outside of Tauranga. We have a short stay Inpatient Unit and also care for patients living in their own homes in an area that extends from Waihi Beach to Pukehina. Our Day Services Clinic enables newly referred and the more active patients to come to Waipuna for assessment, treatment and consultations. Our services include fam

ily support, education, equipment loan, therapeutic massage, a biography service and a Day Programme. This is all provided at no cost to patients - which is why we rely on our community to help us raise the $8.4 million we need this year to meet the shortfall not covered by government funding. You can help us by attending our events, purchasing merchandise, supporting our Hospice Shops as customers or donors of goods, volunteering...lots of ways!

Recently, we received funding to purchase a bladder scanner - a much needed piece of equipment our nursing team have been wishing for.

Our new bladder scanner helps us care for patients with even more ease and dignity.

What this means for our patients and nurses...

- Enhances comfort by avoiding unnecessary procedures.

- Improves dignity by providing a gentle, non-invasive assessment of the bladder.

- Supports clinical decisions quickly, helping staff tailor care to each patient's needs.

- Reduces complications from urinary tract infections or prolonged catheter use.

This vital piece of equipment will have a big effect on patient wellbeing, safety, and quality of end-of-life care.

A huge thank you to Western Bay of Plenty City Council, Jenny Turner, and the Chenery Charitable Trust for your generous donations.

Shaun is just 34. He and his wife Isla have two little boys, aged four and two. A young family, in the thick of life, raising children and building a future.

When Shaun was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, they made a choice. To keep living. To make memories. To hold onto every ordinary moment that suddenly meant everything.

This Hospice Awareness Week, help us make time count for families like Shaun and Isla's. Please donate generously > https://waipunahospice.org.nz/hospice-donation/ 💙

This Hospice Awareness Week, our CEO David Bryant is sharing why your support matters so much. Every donation helps us continue the care our community deserves.

"I would hate to see a world without hospice care." Shaun, 34, father of two and current Waipuna Hospice patient.

Shaun didn't expect hospice to feel the way it does. He found a circle of care that wrapped around his whole family and lifted the weight, so they could focus on being together.

That kind of care is only possible because of this community. Just 43% of what we do is government-funded. The rest comes from people who believe, like Shaun does, that everyone deserves this kind of support.

This Hospice Awareness Week, help us ensure the circle of care never breaks by donating. Omega BOP Windows & Doors are generously matching the first $5,000 donated, so your support will go even further.
