A big Day One at HIRECON26.
During pack-in, the EWPA AGM and Access Meeting brought members together for industry updates, valuable presentations from Jason Cranmer (Skyjack Inc) and Andrew Delahunt (EQSS), and the chance to celebrate some outstanding achievements within our sector.

Congratulations to Snorkel New Zealand, named EWPA Company of the Year, and to Rob Molyneux from EWP Technical Solutions, recognised for his significant contribution to the Elevating Work Platform industry.

Earlier in the day, HIANZ Party & Events members also met to discuss key industry priorities and help shape the future direction of the sector.

A great start to Conference, with plenty of industry collaboration, learning, and recognition.

IF YOU CAN’T READ IT… DON’T USE IT

Those decals, labels, and safety markings on your MEWP are there for a reason, to keep you safe and guide correct operation.

On site, they don’t always stay clear. Concrete, paint, wear, UV, and harsh conditions can quickly make critical information hard to read.
Before you start work, take a moment to check:
• Are all safety decals clear and legible?
• Can you read operating instructions and warnings?

If you can’t read it, you can’t follow it properly, and that puts you at risk.

Follow the Operator Daily Safety Checks in your EWPA Logbook. Check your MEWP before use.

Most MEWP Incidents don't come from the machine, they come from how it's used.

That’s exactly why EWPA industry guidance documents exist.

They turn complex requirements into practical, real-world direction for anyone working with Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), from operators through to supervisors and hire companies.

They support better practice across:
Safe operation and decision-making
Inspection and maintenance practice
Consistent standards across worksites
Alignment with recognised industry good practice

When guidance is clear and consistent, safety decisions become simpler and risk reduces.

EWPA continues to release these documents to support understanding of industry standards and good practice guidance.

A notice of the EWPA AGM has been sent to all members this week.
The AGM will take place on Monday, 27 July at 3:00pm at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland.

This year’s EWPA AGM and Access Meeting will take place ahead of HIRECON26 and will include the presentation of the EWPA industry awards. These awards are an opportunity to recognise the outstanding achievements within the access sector, including:
• EWPA Hire Company of the Year
• RI of the Year
• EWPA Industry Recognition Award

We encourage members to be part of this important session as we acknowledge excellence across the industry and discuss key topics relevant to the access sector.

We look forward to welcoming members to the AGM and HIRECON26.

Please note that EWPA Company of the Year applications close on Tuesday, 7 July.
