❤️Standing Together for the MV Matui Tragedy ❤️

We would like to sincerely thank Humes Cool Pack & Store management for their generous contribution towards the support of those affected by the MV Matui tragedy.

This contribution will be added to the funds generously donated by Humes RSE workers through their fundraising efforts last weekend.

It is truly heartwarming to see management and RSE workers coming together to support the families and community during such a difficult time.

Every contribution, big or small, reflects compassion, unity and respect. Thank you to everyone who has given, supported and stood together with those affected. 🙏❤️

Last Sunday, 27th of September, Hume Katikati Ni-Vanuatu RSE workers (Hume Pack-N-Cool Ltd ) donated $402 to words the MV Matui tragedy.

Toral received so far is $5,013.7

🇵🇬❤️ Happy Independence Day, Papua New Guinea! ❤️🇵🇬

The Ni-Vanuatu Bay of Plenty Association was proud and honoured to be part of the Papua New Guinea Independence Day celebrations today.

We extend our warmest wishes to our Papua New Guinean brothers and sisters here in the Bay of Plenty, across Aotearoa New Zealand, and back home in Papua New Guinea.

May this special day be a celebration of unity, culture, identity, friendship and the strength of the people of PNG. We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside our Pacific brothers and sisters and share in this important occasion.

Our 30+ families, perished at sea during the MV Matui vessel capsized tragedy between Santo and Ambae in Vanuatu, knows we are hurting, heartbroken. They feel our pain for not saying a proper traditional goodbyes. It is really painful for us all. Greatfull that, NVBOPA Aotearoa organise us, both RSEs and Residents in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, gather together at kaituna estuary, (near Maketu) to say our final goodbyes. This is very important for affected families and other Ni-Vans in New Zealand do this to have some closure! Saying goodbye, helps us come into terms that our loved ones are not coming back. Also shows that we are in these together. No one will be alone. We grief together!
We believe they saw us grieving. We know, you are in a better place now. We shall meet again! 💔💔😭😭

❤️🇻🇺 WHAT A DAY OF FUNDRAISING, UNITY, RESPECT & REMEMBRANCE 🇻🇺❤️

Today was truly a special and emotional day for our community. It was a beautiful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together with unity, respect, love and one heart 💛 🇻🇺❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, supported, encouraged and contributed to our fundraising efforts. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference.

A very special acknowledgment to all our amazing volunteers who gave up their time to help with the sausage sizzle. 🌭❤️ From setting up, cooking, serving, packing up and everything in between . Thank you for giving your time so freely for our community. 🙏🏽

Today was also a time to remember and honour those whose lives were lost. 🌺🌊

Sending flowers out into the sea was a deeply meaningful tribute — a symbol of our love, respect and remembrance for the lives that will forever remain in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with their families and loved ones.

To our Ni-Vanuatu community, Pacific brothers and sisters, RSE workers, families, friends, businesses and supporters — thank you for standing together.
