Becky is a vibrant force in the dance community, widely known for her passion and dedication to growing the Kizomba scene through teaching, events, and festivals.
Her journey began in Tauranga, New Zealand, and over the past five years she has immersed herself in the global Kizomba communityātraveling the world, taking online classes, and investing in private lessons with some of the most respected Kizomba artists worldwide.
Initially drawn to the soulful rhythms of traditional Kizomba and Semba, Beckyās dance journey has since expanded to embrace all styles within the Kizomba umbrellaāTarraxinha, Tarraxo, Urban Kiz, Kizomba Fusion, and more. She believes in the power of strong foundations and is passionate about helping others master the fundamentals, so they can explore the full spectrum of this ever-evolving dance.
Whether on the dance floor or behind the scenes organizing unforgettable events, Becky continues to inspire and connect dancers through her love for Kizomba.
Terri Ewart is a relatively new teacher on the NZ Kiz scene, Iāve been dancing for three years as both a lead and a follow ā and Iāve come a long way from being called āa tankā at my very first lesson!
Dance has never come naturally to me. Iāve had to work for every step, every movement and every breakthrough along the way. Fortunately, I have a pretty high level of nerd in me, so I love pulling things apart, figuring out how and why they work, and then finding ways to make them accessible to others.
For me, connection is everything. More than patterns or fancy moves, itās the feeling of actually dancing with another person that matters most ā and thatās something I bring strongly into my teaching.
Douceur, Tarraxo and Urban Kiz are my favourites, particularly where connection, musicality and technique meet and thereās room to play.
As a teacher, Iām still very much a student too. I know what it feels like when dance doesnāt come easily, and I think thatās one of my strengths ā Iāve had to understand why things work rather than simply being able to do them.
Three years in, Iām still learning, still nerding out, and thankfully, a little less tank-like these days.
