An end of an era at STEM Wana Trust. Flashback to when we said goodbye to lovely Rachael and Lily with cakes and morning tea.

Lily joined us last year to support the delivery of STEMFest 2025 and Rachael has worked on projects across the Trust and been leading our STEM in the Community initiatives.

We thank them both for your commitment and dedication and wish them all the best as they go forth and share their awesomeness with our wider community!

Last night, STEM Wana hosted our Open Evening for the Tauranga Student Space Innovation Hub at Tinkd Makerspace! ๐ŸŒŸ This exciting initiative invites students in years 9-11 from various schools to collaborate in a shared environment, where they can work on ambitious, real-world projects with structured mentoring and expert guidance.

It has been designed to give motivated students the chance to work on high-level engineering and science-based research projects linked to the space sector with a view to entering the Prime Ministerโ€™s Space Prize.

Thanks very much to Basestation for supporting with use of the venue.

We can't wait for this to take off, watch this space! (all puns intended). โœจ

What an incredible and exciting evening we held on Tuesday night as part of this year's Ada Lovelace Day celebrations! filled with STEM presentations led by remarkable NZ women.

We delved into the innovative realm of food science, explored the fascinating world of technology, uncovered surprising engineering discoveries, and marvelled at the creative side of mathematics.

Kia ora and thank you to the trailblazing women shaping the future and celebrate those pioneers who have come before. This wasn't just another lecture or talk; itโ€™s was an engaging and enjoyable STEM Happy Hour by STEM Wana x Friends.

With special guest appearance by Suw Charman-Anderson, Founder of Ada Lovelace Day. Huge thanks to our amazing presenters Gabi Lobo, Mikayla Stokes, Renรฉe Young, Hinke Osinga, supported by MC Vaughan Smith, and our host venue Mr.Murdoch's.

HAPPY ADA LOVELACE DAY!

Ada Lovelace Day is important because it celebrates the achievements of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and inspires future generations of girls to pursue these careers by highlighting role models. The day also acknowledges Ada Lovelace's groundbreaking work as the first computer programmer and raises awareness about ongoing gender disparities in STEM fields.

If you managed to secure a ticket to our event tonight - well done! We can't wait for you to join us for STEM Happy Hour tonight. Get ready to experience STEM in a fun and exciting way! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Can you believe that this time last week we were in the midst of STEMFest?

What a fantastic day filled with adventure and excitement! Was it loud? Absolutely! Was it crowded? For sure! Was it free? YES! Thatโ€™s the spirit of a festival and how we love to celebrate STEM ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ Thank you to the thousands of visitors who brought their curiosity and willingness to discover new things.

We are thrilled that we were able to make STEMFest happen again despite the challenges of funding and sponsorship. Shoutout to all our amazing sponsors and partners, especially our headline sponsor Ballance Agri-Nutrients, principal funder Tauranga Western Bay Community Event Fund, and Gigabyte sponsor University of Waikato.

The official event photos are on the website, be sure to check it out and save the date for October 2027 when we will be back for the fifth edition! Mรฅ te wa! ๐Ÿ˜€
