A safety plan starts with identifying trusted people you can contact in an emergency. This could be a friend, whānau member, neighbour, colleague, or support service.

Having a list of safe contacts ready can make a difficult situation feel less overwhelming.

💜 Save their numbers somewhere easy to access.

Have you ever noticed the small shield icon on some New Zealand websites?

The Shielded Site is a free tool created by Women's Refuge to help people experiencing family violence access support safely. By clicking the shield icon, users can enter a secure portal with information, safety planning resources, online safety advice, and ways to connect with help. The portal is designed so it won't appear in browser history, helping people seek support more safely. 💜
