Central Plateau REAP (Rural Education Activities Programme) is one of 13 in New Zealand and began operating in 1980. REAP is a not-for-profit lifelong learning NGO (Non-Government Organisation) that delivers a variety of educational and family support programmes that redress the disadvantages experienced by rural dwellers in accessing the range and depth of activities and services enjoyed by their

urban counterparts. All REAPs are members of REAP Aotearoa and deliver Early Childhood, School and Adult Community Education (ACE) programmes, which are run in a variety of formats and settings. REAP Central Plateau also provides family education and support programmes, including a Male Mentor programme for men wanting support and guidance in their parenting and partnering roles. We deliver Strengthening
Families for Taupō and Turangi. REAP also runs Intensive Literacy and Numeracy for TEC. REAP developed Taupō's first ISP and still
provides various internet services including
High Speed Wireless Broadband.

Our Story

Central Plateau REAP (Rural Education Activities Programme) Inc. is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation providing flexible, lifelong learning opportunities in the Central Plateau region since 1979. Central Plateau REAP fills gaps in mainstream education service provision by providing integrated and seamless education initiatives across the Early Childhood, School and Adult Community Education (ACE) sectors. These initiatives combine national priorities for education with local education needs. Central Plateau REAP-ISP (Internet Service Provider) has since 1993 been supplying internet services to the local community including public access computers, dialup access, web hosting and domain registration. Central Plateau REAP also hold contracts for ECASE School Attendance service , Male Mentor , Strenghtening Families, Taupo Violence Intevention network , SKIP (Strategies with Kids: Information for Parents).
