Active Arts Taupo Active Arts Taupo,is a non profit arts organization offering an environment for enthusiastic artist Arts Taupo offers creative space. Artist use all mediums.

Pottery is a large ideal workspace. We offer Pottery classes 7 days a week. We have 6 pottery wheels and 3 kilns. Classes are run for beginners. Painters meet Tuesday AM and Thursday PM. Art is created in an ideal space, large worktable, plenty of easels. Mixed Media meets on a Monday AM. This is a small group experimenting in many mediums. We are hoping to grow this group. We are fortunate to have a gallery room were art can be sold. This is open to public on advertised weekends. Various workshops and exhibitions are held each year and Active Arts encourage local artists to use the rooms to run their own workshops. Active Arts Taupo is located at 5 Redoubt Street Taupo

What an awesome day rock painting at Active Arts Taupo Thursday, part of the Taupo Winter Festival. I lost count at 117 rocks being handed out to kids small and large. Big shout out to our Sponsor Taupo Landscape Supplies, you guys Rock, the large river stones were ideal for the job. The day also could not have happened at all without our volunteers Angie, Viv, Anny, Marge and Jenni. The team did an amazing job of keeping paints and supplies topped up, hair drying the painted stones and all the other roles necessary in making the day a success. And a big thank you to all the kids, mums, dads, nanas and gramps that came along, we had a blast and we hope you did too. I only had time for a few photos though. Others on the Winter Festival page/site I believe. Dave

It is with sadness that Shirley Rountree passed away suddenly yesterday. Shirley was a long time member of Active Arts spinner and weaver group.
Shirley had a great sense of humour, a lovely smile, she was a gifted artist. She will be missed by the art community.
Shirley will be farewelled 1pm Tuesday 9th at the Founders Chapel of Remembrance. Ricketts Street Taupo.
