A very special night for our Kea whānau! πŸ’š
Tonight we officially invested our newest Kea Leader, Kowhai.

Thank you for stepping up to support our youngest Scouts as they begin their Scouting journey.

We know you'll bring plenty of enthusiasm, fun, and adventure to the Kea programme.

Please join us in giving Kowhai a warm welcome to the team! πŸŽ‰πŸ¦
Congratulations, Kowhai, and welcome to the Scouting family!

What an amazing night at Keas! πŸŒΏπŸπŸ¦‰
This week, our Keas were lucky to have a visit from Kids Greening Taupo and Predator Free Taupo They learnt all about the introduced pests we have in New Zealand and the impact they have on our native wildlife.
The Keas then put their learning into action by building their own rat traps to help protect our precious native species. πŸ”¨πŸ€

What a fantastic evening of learning, teamwork, and doing our bit to help protect New Zealand's precious native species. Well done, Keas! πŸ‘πŸ¦ŽπŸ¦πŸ’š

πŸ§΅πŸ‘€ The Scouts were going cross-eyed tonight learning how to sew badges onto their blankets and uniforms!
There were tangled threads, dropped needles, a few frustrated faces, and plenty of laughs along the way. But everyone gave it a go and picked up a valuable life skill.
By the end of the night, there were some very proud Scouts showing off their newly attached badges. Well done, everyone – practice makes perfect! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Kea's doing what Kea's do best... heading out on a chilly night adventure! πŸ”¦πŸŒ™

Wrapped up warm and armed with their torches, our Keas explored the bush, discovering the sights and sounds of nature after dark. From spotting interesting plants to listening for creatures in the night, there was plenty to see and learn along the way.

A big thank you to Rachel from Kids Greening Taupo , who joined us and shared her knowledge about glowworms, including where to find them and what makes them so special.
The Keas were fascinated and loved learning more about these amazing little creatures. ✨

The cold didn't slow them down one bit! Just another fun-filled evening of adventure, exploration, and making memories in the great outdoors. πŸŒΏπŸ’š

A huge congratulations to our very own Cub Leader, Raksha (aka Becks Attenborough.) who took home the upper North Island Inspirational Leader – Women in Retail award over the weekend! πŸŽ‰
By day, Becks is a Deli and Checkout Manager at one of our local supermarkets, where she has poured her heart, energy, and determination into her training, personal growth, and leadership journey.

Her hard work and dedication have been recognised in an incredible way, and we couldn't be more proud.

How lucky are we to have Becks as one of our Cub Leaders?
The same passion, encouragement, and leadership she brings to her workplace shines through in everything she does with our youth. She is helping to inspire the next generation to be confident, capable leaders who believe in themselves and their potential.
Congratulations, Becks β€” your Scouting family is incredibly proud of you! πŸ’™πŸ’›

So if you see becks in PAK'nSAVE Taupo give her a big pat on the back. πŸ˜€

Who needs a fancy ballroom when you've got McDonald's?
Tonight our Venturers swapped their usual uniforms for suits, ties, dresses, and fancy shoes as they headed off for a McFormal Night! From burgers and fries to plenty of laughs, everyone had a fantastic time.
It was great to see everyone making the effort to dress up, have fun, and create some awesome memories together.
Proof that you can be classy and enjoy a cheeseburger at the same time! πŸ˜†πŸŸπŸ”

πŸͺ’ Knot your average Cubs night! πŸͺ’
Tonight our Cubs put their skills to the test learning all about knots and lashings. They mastered the reef knot, sheet bend, clove hitch, and even had a go at square lashing!
There were a few tangled ropes along the way, but plenty of teamwork, learning, and fun. These practical skills are an important part of Scouting and our Cubs did an awesome job giving them a go.
Well done, Cubs! πŸ‘

A slightly different night tonight πŸ˜‰

Tonight we had the privilege of attending, Taupo volunteer awards ceremony to celebrate our very own Mandy "Baloo".

For over 10 years, Mandy has dedicated countless hours to supporting and inspiring young people through Scouts.
Her passion, commitment, and care for our youth make a real difference every day.

While you didn't take home the award tonight, you are a winner in our eyes. Your dedication, kindness, and the impact you have on so many young people are truly priceless.
We are incredibly proud of you, Mandy. πŸ’™πŸ‘

Who doesn't love a campfire? πŸ”₯

Not to be outdone by the weather, our kea group brought the campfire indoors tonight!

There was plenty of warmth, laughter, and fun as everyone gathered around our indoor campfire. It's amazing how a little creativity can keep the adventure going, no matter what Mother Nature has planned.

Another fantastic night of Scouting and making memories with friends!
