AWESOME CLIP š
I had one of those after-lesson conversations with my lesson ladies tonight that just stuck with me.
We were talking about my reining show last week, ranch shows, and life in general.
Iāve had so many Gen X riders call me lately, and almost every conversation starts withā¦
āIām probably too oldā¦ā
Too old to start riding.
Too old to get back into riding.
Too old to show.
Too old to have goals.
Nope. Not buying it.
Last weekend was my third reining show after almost 10 years away from any type of showing. Was I nervous? Yep. Did I know there were people there who could run circles around me? Absolutely.
Did I care?
Not enough to stay home.
I got to show an incredible horse, laugh with great friends, learn a ton, and remember why I fell in love with showing in the first place. Thatās a win in my book.
I told my lesson ladies tonightā¦be PROUD.
Be proud of your horse.
Be proud that you entered.
Be proud that you walked through that gate.
And for goodnessā sake, be proud that you stayed for the lope pattern!
Post your videos. Share your pictures. Celebrate your progress.
And if someone wants to critique your horse or your ride from the sidelinesā¦thatās cute. Last I checked, Iām a grown woman who pays for my own horses. If they donāt like my horse or me, thatās okayā¦thereās a decent chance I donāt like them either.
Hereās the thing Iāve learned after getting back in the reining pen: nobody hands out buckles for worrying about what everyone else thinks.
So stop waiting until youāre āgood enough.ā
Ride the horse.
Take the lesson.
Enter the class.
Miss the lead.
Laugh about it.
Go do it again.
Lifeās too damn short to spend it wondering what the railbirds think.
This Girl isnāt done yetā¦and neither are you. ā¤ļøš“
