Every post, comment and message is an opportunity to build our Pony Club community. Share the proud pony clubmoments, thank your volunteers, celebrate teamwork and encourage those still learning.

Before you post, take a moment to think:

• Is it kind, respectful and accurate?
• Do I have permission to share this photo or video, especially if children are involved?
• Does it reflect the Pony Club values we want our young people to learn?

If something concerns you, seek support through the appropriate Pony Club channels.

Horse owners: upcoming helicopter and drone work

Transpower has advised of inspections in these areas during October 2026:

• Flat Bush–Ōtāhuhu: drone inspections, 12–16 October, 8am–6pm.
• Lower South Island: low-flying helicopter inspections, 15 October, 8am–5pm. Backup dates: 16–17 October.
• Bunnythorpe–Tokaanu: low-flying helicopter inspections with linespeople suspended underneath, 19–24 October, 8am–5pm.

Please check the maps and contact details in the attached notices. If your horses are nearby, plan ahead and let the relevant contact know of any concerns.

Please share with your Pony Club and neighbouring horse owners so they can prepare too.

This session will look at the things that shape a strong Club culture, including inclusion, communication, behavioural expectations, and how we build Pony Club communities that people want to be part of, and want to stay part of.

A positive culture doesn't happen by accident. It comes from the way we communicate, the expectations we set, how we welcome and support people, and how we work together when things don't go to plan.

This session is for Club and Region committees, coaches, volunteers, parents, and anyone interested in helping create a positive Pony Club environment.

New Zealand has just won the PCIA Virtual Quiz for 2026.

They narrowly snatched the win by 6 points (768) against the United Kingdom (762).

A big weekend of Pony Club action is here.

Good luck to everyone involved in the Springston Trophy in Ashburton and Rakaia, the Manawatū Pony Club Show Hunter Championships in Foxton, and our PCIA Virtual Quiz, hosted by New Zealand.

To all our riders, teams, volunteers, officials, coaches, families and supporters, have a fantastic weekend. Enjoy the competition, the teamwork and everything that makes Pony Club such a great community.

New law. Now let’s turn it into learning.

Road safety is a shared responsibility, and Pony Club is all about giving our riders the skills and knowledge to keep themselves and their horses safe.

Coaches and parents, not sure where to start? We’ve got the resources for you.

Our Riding on the Road Achievement Badge covers safe road riding, hand signals, dos and don’ts, and practical activities.

From today, 1 October 2026, New Zealand’s new minimum passing distance law is in effect.

Motorists must now leave at least 1.5 metres when overtaking vulnerable road users, including horse riders. For the first time, horse riders are specifically included in this road safety measure.

This is an important step forward for the safety of our riders and horses, but legislation is only part of the picture.

Drivers, please slow down, give horses plenty of space and only pass when it is safe to do so. Horses can react unexpectedly to noise, movement and vehicles passing too closely.

For our riders, road safety is a shared responsibility too. Be visible, communicate clearly, ride predictably and use the road safety skills we teach through Pony Club.

Space saves lives.
