West Otago Theatrical Society

West Otago Theatrical Society An amateur theatre company which strives to produce professional productions with the many talanted people of West Otago and the surrounding districts.

The West Otago Theatrical Society was formed in Tapanui in 1982, performing it’s first show in the old Town Hall, on the site of the present West Otago Community Centre which houses our theatre today. Through fund raising, we have transformed it into a venue suitable for any event - the theatre is complete with a green room and seating enough for 204 people. Membership is open to all ages and all sectors of the community. Total membership usually varies between sixty and eighty people. We also have a major production every year.

🎄✨ Two Weeks Until Synopsis Day! ✨🎄

📅 Synopsis Day: Sunday 11 October, 4.00pm

Thinking about auditioning for a featured Act One item?

Contact Sam at [email protected] for the song list and audition material so you can see what might take your fancy.

🎤 Auditions are simple and relaxed, involving a short singing excerpt from the audition material. No need to prepare a full performance. These will be held immediately following the synopsis.

🎶 Everyone is welcome to join the Act Two ensemble. If we haven't heard you sing before, we may simply check your vocal range or ask for a short sound bite to help place voices.

😊 Not sure yet? You can still audition on the day.

📅 Can't make the synopsis but would like to audition? Get in touch and we'll work something out.

Travel through time with us as we celebrate Christmas through the years with music, memories, and festive fun.

Join us on Sunday 11 October at 4.00pm to hear all about this year's Christmas Concert. Following the synopsis, there will be coffee, cake and a cuppa in the green room if you wish to stay afterwards to catch up and korero. It's a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones too!

Auditions will be held following the synopsis. These will consist of a short singing excerpt for those interested in featured Act One items. Everyone is welcome to be part of the Act Two ensemble. For those we haven't heard sing before, we may just do a quick vocal range check or ask for a short sound bite to help place voices. 🎶
More information about the featured Act One opportunities will be shared before the synopsis.

Can't make it but keen to be involved? Get in touch. We'd love to have you join us as we journey through the ages and celebrate the joy of Christmas together! 🎄
