AA services is moving locations in Richmond and Tākaka!
We are not renewing the contract to provide AA services from our Council service centres in Richmond and Tākaka – including driver and vehicle licensing and government identity services – and we have decided to focus on core council services going forward.
AA services have been available in Richmond, Motueka and Tākaka for around 10 years. AA will continue to be provided in Motueka and Tākaka through AA, and via a new provider in Richmond, Te Kotahi o Te Tauihu Trust, so customers can still access these services in Tasman.
What this means for each location:
• Richmond: AA is partnering with Te Kotahi o Te Tauihu Charitable Trust to help keep driver licensing and identity services accessible. AA services will move to 222 Queen Street from Monday 29 June 2026. Services will be unavailable from midday on Friday 26 June to facilitate the move.
• Tākaka: AA Services will operate twice a month from a mobile unit at Heartlands Tākaka. Dates confirmed are 20-21 July, 17-18 Aug, 7-8 Sept, 19-20 Oct, 9-10 Nov, 14-15 Dec 2026. More dates will be added in 2027.
• Motueka: AA Services will continue at our Council Service Centre, 7 Hickmott Place, while a new location is found. AA Services will be available Monday – Thursday only after 19 June 2026.
• Murchison: is NZTA-based rather than AA-based, which means it will retain all current functions with no changes needed.
