Tai Tapu Library/ Church Update:
Thanks goes to The Tree Guys Christchurch for coming to the party with reduced rates work for our community project of tidying up the dead trees and wind sown trees to view the back of the Library as part of our work towards a heritage trail. It has already created a visible difference from the highway, there is still alot to go.

Tai Tapu Community Association AGM year in summary

Thanks to our hard working committee of the past year which continues through for another year with
Chairman- Joshua Bentham
Secretary- Pauline Hayes
Treasurer- Vicki Hardacre

Some of the most significant things as an association that have noticeably been achieved
-Moving of "Your Speed" sign to town boundary and additional at other town boundary
-Lowering of speed limit from Playcentre to Golf Links Rd for safer access around Tai Tapu Hotel and the domain etc
-A successful Quiz Night fundraising for our local heritage listed Library
-Kids Bike Jump in Collaboration with Selwyn District Council
-And the latest start to works is trying to open up the back of the Library to the highway as part of our Heritage Trail that we are working through

We always welcome more engagement from locals to say what matters to you and we can see what can be done about it

Planning is underway at Tai Tapu Library for another Bookfest. This time it’s to encourage our younger readers to use our Library
– pre-primary through to young adults.

The date chosen is Halloween Saturday 31 October 6-7 pm.

BUT – we need more books to offer keen readers! We are seeking the donation of books in great condition e.g. from families where kids have outgrown them and moved on to another age bracket
Can you help, please?

Books can be dropped into the Tai Tapu Library during opening hours 2-4pm on Tuesday and Thursday 10am -12 noon Saturday.

Forbes Road residents

Selwyn Water will be in Forbes Rd fixing a leaking pipe that runs under the road, by No. 35 on Monday 14th.
Supply will likely be disrupted so giving a heads up so you can plan ahead.

Would there be interest in Tai Tapu for a meeting combined with local police/ civil defence etc? If there is please do let us know

Every year for the past 6+ years, we have held community meetings across Canterbury prior to the summer fire season. Usually we approach the communities and advertise our meetings, sometimes with success and sometimes not so successful.

This time though we thought we might try something a little bit different to kick off our preparedness sessions and ask you, the amazing people of Facebook and Instagram, where you think we should come and have a chat? What communities would like us to come educate them on the upcoming fire season and how to keep your properties safe?

We usually combine our sessions with speakers from Civil Defence and Police, to talk about evacuations and animal welfare during fires. Are there any other agencies you would like to hear from at these talks?

We want to hear your thoughts and ideas about how we can help you be fire safe this summer. So let us know below 👇

On behalf of the Tai Tapu Library.
Good quality books donated to Tai Tapu Library and surplus to our current stock will be on display at the Library between 10 am and 11.30 am on Saturday 29 August.
If it is a fine day, browse through the books set out on a trestle table in front of the Library and available for a small donation. If it is wet, the books will be on display inside the Library.
Both cash and internet banking may be used.
St Paul’s next door to the Library will also be open to visitors at the same time as the Lincoln Anglican Parish which is celebrating the 150th anniversary of St Stephen’s in Lincoln.
So perhaps consider a double destination on Saturday morning
