SHONE & SHIRLEY generously sponsored our tournament yesterday.

We are very thankful for their support - we couldn't hold this type of Community event without our awesome sponsors.🤗
Play started off at 9 am on a typical Nelson spring day: some warm sun, mixed with some clouds. And (also typically) players sported everything from puffer jackets to shorts..!
All the rinks were full; the club was happy as always to welcome players from other clubs, so some very friendly competition (and socialising) ensued.
After the game was completed, players retired into the club rooms where they were met with the welcome sight of sandwiches and warm mini-pies; tea and coffee were on offer, as well as a cold one from the bar. After some socialising, our president, Dave Pullen, managed to quieten all the excited, friendly chatter, and then the raffle wheel was spun three times for prizes. And then... the tournament winners were announced, as follows:
1st place: the team of Dave McKenzie, Anne Curtis and Kevin Willson
2nd place: the team of Mick Mitchell, Ron Heemskerk and Dion Ingerson.
3rd place: the team of John and Triona Wilkinson and Dave Shaw.

Congratulations to everyone who played - it was a great day! And special thanks to all our many volunteers who perform such miracles behind the scenes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

LOOKS LIKE HE'S JUST HAVING LUNCH BUT...
it's actually a well-deserved lunch break, because this is another of our Invisible Volunteers, Brendon Wilson, who had just finished rolling the artificial green before today's rollup! Several members are performing this somewhat tedious, mind-numbing task (which can take several hours) to speed up the new green... and all of our members are incredibly grateful!
All the volunteers at the club are our life-blood; we simply could not function without them. There are tasks big and small to be done, from rolling the green to lawnmowing to making the tea to wiping the tables - and all the other jobs big and small... so if you want to volunteer to lend a hand, we would always love your help! Just ask Dave P or Brendon ,or any of the board members, and they are sure to find something you'd be happy to do!

On another beautiful Nelson day with a slightly chilly start, our grateful thanks go to Ernest Rutherford Retirement Village for their generous sponsorship of today’s tournament. Bowls Tahunanui President Dave Pullen presented the prizes on behalf of our sponsors.

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW THE MARKS GOT THERE?
Yes, all those little red, yellow and blue dots and lines and crosses on the green. How did they get there? The answer: yet another job done by another Invisible Volunteer, in this case our very own Ray Dyson, today laboriously painting each and every mark up and down the rinks AND then across the green too. Thanks Ray, you're awesome!
But my question now: how does he know exactly where to put the marks??

Summerset Retirement Villages Triples Tournament held today on a lovely sunny but rather chilly day on the green in Nelson. Thank you to all the attendees for their support and to Jane from Summerset for presenting the prizes.
