Another terrifically sad day, as we said goodbye to 4 of our LDS missionaries, who are being transferred to other NZ locations- Elders Epition Koaia and Seeley and sisters Ellie Bateman and Bailey Sampson are off to bless new communities with their presence.

We will miss them so much, but we know what joy they will bring to a whole new area!

What an outstanding community contribution from the Goodman family. Community engagement and leadership at its very best.

Success! ❤ YES !! ** Fantastic News **
The Chanel Arts Centre is about to be in community ownership!
The Goodman family have generously agreed to transfer the building to the Chanel Arts Centre Charitable Trust, currently being established - subject to formalities being satisfactorily completed.
This is an incredibly positive outcome for the Save the Chanel campaign, spearheaded by representatives from the Motueka Music Group, the Motueka Arts Council and Love Motueka, with enthusiastic public support.
Handover is scheduled for 1st December. It will then take a couple of months to set up systems etc, so activities will commence February/March 2027.
Meanwhile there will be a "celebratory event" on Thursday 26th November at 5.30pm at the Chanel Arts Centre (all going according to plan) to which all those interested in being involved in any capacity are welcome. Volunteers for a range of activities are being sought - if you can offer any time at all, contact [email protected] ❤

Removing that local, first point of contact and advice from our communities will have a massive negative impact on how our organisations secure funding.

Please make a submission supporting keeping DIA advisors in our local communities!

“Mā mua ka kite a muri, mā muri ka ora a mua.”

(“Those in front give sight to those behind; those behind give life to those ahead.”).

Something special happened in our kitchen today.

We hosted a group of Stoke Venturer Scouts and Leaders who were prepping and cooking meals for one of their scout families who are in need of some support.

Nelson Host Lions John Bilderbeck and Yvonne Bilderbeck backed up from the Wednesday community meal to lead and teach our visitors how to prepare some awesome food- bacon and egg pie, macaroni cheese, Lasagne, Chicken pasta, even rolls of cookie dough for freezing, for future baking.

This was all about our elders passing on their skill and experience to Rangatahi to give them the ability to show their scout whanau some awesome "inter-generational manaakitanga.

Young ones learning essential skills from people of thier grandparents age, to use those skills, not just for thier own benefit, but for the benefit of people thier parents age, and all ages really.

It takes everyone in the village to build community- and special kinds of people, like John and Yvonne to do it constantly, with no reluctance, over many decades- the precious gift of passing the mantle of knowledge from one generation to another.

One of the proudest days we've had in the hub.

❤️
