Inanahi / Yesterday, our Kaiārahi Tūpuna Parenting joined the rōpū to listen to Tamara share the first of many kōrero on Takiwātanga / Autism, grounded in her lived experience as she travels across Aotearoa sharing her neurodiverse pūrākau.

Her presentation was honest, vulnerable and deeply inclusive. It was beautiful to see such a wide range of whānau in the room — kaimahi seeking professional development, neurodiverse tangata, and parents of neuro-spicy tamariki all coming together to learn and connect.

Many of you will remember at last year’s July HBC Youth Hauora Network hui, Tamara also spoke about takiwātanga and introduced the Urban Wayfinder diary she created — a powerful tool supporting neurodiverse rangatahi and whānau. It was special to see her return and continue this kaupapa with such heart.

If you get the chance to attend one of her sessions, we highly recommend it.
Tamara will be closing her tour back at Te Herenga Waka o Orewa Marae, so keep an eye on her socials and website for updates.

“Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.”
With your contribution and mine, our people will thrive.

Kia ora koutou,

Shout out to our Silverdale Playcentre friends who joined Holly, our Kaiārahi Tūpuna Parenting, last friday for Te Reo Māori Bilingual Storytime at Whangaparāoa Library. It was so special to see familiar faces returning — ngā mihi for coming back to share the space with us.

A big mihi to Annie, the Playcentre Facilitator, who brought along her ukulele and filled the room with beautiful waiata. Ngā mihi nui e hoa.

We’re back again this Friday, 10:30–11am, in the children’s section. Bring the tamariki, bring the cuzzies, bring the whole village — everyone is welcome.
“He kāinga tahi, he kāinga rua.”
We are shaped by the many homes and communities that hold us.

Nau mai, hoki mai — we’d love to see you there.

Kia ora koutou,
With our next Whānau Wānanga starting this Wednesday at Whangaparāoa Library, we wanted to share a little back story around Tūpuna Parenting & the founder Liz's journey to creating the kaupapa.
He taonga tuku iho nō tōna māmā 💚
You might spot our Kaiārahi Tūpuna Parenting, Holly, in the video too 😄
We still have a few spaces available for the 8-week evening wānanga.

Kia ora koutou,

Te Reo Maori Storytime is back āpōpō / tomorrow at Whangaparāoa Library with our Kaiārahi Holly Aymes.

🕥 10:30–11am
📍 Children’s section

Join Holly for waiata, pukapuka, kupu hou and plenty of giggles — a gentle space for tamariki to hear and feel te reo Māori in action.

“Ko te kai a te rangatira, he kōrero.”
The food of chiefs is communication, storytelling, the sharing of knowledge.
A beautiful reminder that every story we share with our tamariki helps them grow in confidence, identity and connection.

Nau mai, haere mai — bring the whānau and settle in for a fun morning together.

🌟 PROUD MOMENT FOR STEPSFORWARD 🌟

We are bursting with pride as we celebrate our very own Tina, our Māori Financial Mentor at Steps Forward, who recently took on HYROX Auckland and absolutely represented and smashed it 🙌

Tina stood tall for our Māori and Pasifika communities, for wahine, for mums everywhere for anyone who’s ever thought “can I really do this?” — and then did it anyway.

She even fundraised for Mental Health supporting a great cause.

A dedicated member of F45 Whangaparāoa, Tina showed grit, resilience, and heart on the competition floor — the same strength and determination she brings every day to supporting whānau on their financial wellbeing journeys.

This is more than fitness.
This is representation.
This is inspiration.
This is walking the talk.

👏 Congratulations Tina — we are so proud of you and grateful to have you as part of the StepsForward whānau. You remind us all that when our communities rise, we rise together.

💪🖤💙
