Friends of Rotoiti

Friends of Rotoiti A volunteer group helping to control introduced pests and protect the wildlife of Lake Rotoiti Friends of Rotoiti operates as a Charitable Trust.

Friends of Rotoiti are a dedicated group of conservation volunteers working with the Department of Conservation around Lake Rotoiti in Nelson Lakes National Park. We help to control introduced pests like possums, stoats, rats, mice, feral cats and wasps. Over the past 20 years, Friends of Rotoiti volunteers have removed over 40,000 pests by maintaining and improving over 50 kilometres of trap lines around the Rotoiti village area, Rainbow, Speargrass, Whiskey Falls and Tophouse. Interested in joining us? The Ratters group gets together on the second Wednesday of each month at 10am at the DOC Workshop on Ward Street, St Arnaud, to check traplines around the village. Itโ€™s a fun way to meet like-minded people and learn about traplines. Everyoneโ€™s welcome!
