Mission To Seafarers Marsden Point

Mission To Seafarers Marsden Point We’re there to support seafarers when they need us most.

Men and women who work at sea can be affected by any number of problems: money worries, mental health issues and loneliness, as well as piracy, shipwreck and abandonment.

😪 how true is this x

Out here on the ocean, it can sometimes feel like you’re just another small part in a vast, endless expanse. The horizon stretches on, the days blend together, and it’s easy to wonder if anyone truly sees you.

But Psalm 139 speaks directly into that feeling:

“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Not just on land. Not just at home. You—right there on your vessel, in the engine room, on the bridge, on watch in the middle of the night—you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

God’s care for you didn’t stop at the shoreline. He knows every mile you sail, every port you enter, every challenge you carry. He understands the long contracts, the separation from family, the fatigue, the responsibility. And still, His word says you are wonderfully made—crafted with purpose, known completely, and valued deeply.

There’s nothing ordinary about your life or your calling. Even when it feels routine or unseen, God sees. Even when it feels lonely, God is near.

Psalm 139 also reminds us that there is nowhere we can go where God is not present—not the heights, not the depths, not even the far side of the sea. That includes your current voyage.

So today, take a moment—whether you’re on a break, finishing a shift, or watching the sunrise over the water—and remember this truth:

You are not forgotten.
You are not just a number on a crew list.
You are known, seen, and wonderfully made by God.

May that give you strength for the journey ahead and peace in the miles between home and where you are now.

Safe sailing, and God bless you today.

Many thanks to the lovely couple up on Marsden Point rd for inviting some of our crew in to enjoy their beautiful garden and art work. We stopped to take photos of the minions out in the roadside and got an invite to view this. Many thanks.

Had some fun at the mission today with these 2 female seafarers off the tanker Hafnia Yarra. High sprited and full of laughs. They are two if four females on board. They have 7 different Nationalities on board which captain says makes things very interesting. Captain is Indian and quite young only 42 years old. Crew were very relaxed in his presence.... so tells me we have very happy crew. . Loved meeting them all today.

It was so nice to reunite the Captain of the Happiness Bulker with his family tod0ay. His cousin and cousins wife and two adorable girls were able to spend quite a considerable time both on board and then out to dinner. It was a very emotional meeting for all. Love my Job.

It's always special to reunite family for our seafarers. In one day we were able to unite 3 seafarers with family they had not seen in years. He is a photo of father and son catching up after 7 long years. This is so heartwarming to be a part of.

Thank you Beryl Mary and Lindsay for the lovely hats. These seafarers really appreciate you.

10 crew came ashore for some fun and shopping yesterday.I saw a post about some motor cross event so did a little digging and got more info and hey bingo we were there for a great afternoon of thrills and a few spills. These kids on their bikes were awsome. Also the welcome the crew recievied by some really kind kids who came up to them and shook their hands with The Japanese 'konnichiwa ' was really cute... Evan though they are Chinese. When told they are Chinese the asked how to say hello so then all the kids were yelling out 'ni hao". A kind man then directed us to go through a tunnel and up to a viewing area where we could see most of the track. As this was for most of them first time in NZ it was a great experience for them. So thank you to all who made it a memorable one.P.S I had a great day out too. Will definitely go back.

Thank you Beryl, Bev, and Noeline for this bright and cheerful lot of beanies. The seafarers will love them.

The woodchip vessel in Port this last few days has managed to get 17 crew ashore for time off the vessel. They have shopped local, been thrilled to watch our local Waka Ama training, kite flying at Mair rd, shopping at fresh choice, Orrs pharmacy, 4 Square, 123 shop. Thanks to the girls at freshchoice for your patience and understanding and welcoming attitude. Makes their day.
