What a great night at Cubs! Our marble run challenge had two teams racing the clock, building tracks together, and cheering each other on. Teamwork and problem solving made for a brilliant session.

We also welcomed some awesome new faces to the pack tonight, great to have you with us!

And to wrap up the evening, we handed out badges to celebrate our Cubs progress.
Well done to everyone who earned one.

Thanks to all our leaders, parents, and Cubs for making it such a fun night. See you next week!

What a night for our Cubs and Scouts!

Our pack (and a few prospective new faces) visited the local fire station for a hands on fire safety lesson they won't forget. The firefighters covered the fire triangle, the three things every fire needs to keep burning, and how removing just one puts the fire out.

Cubs learnt about the different types of fire extinguishers and which fires each one is used for, then watched a live extinguisher display to see it all in action.

We also covered what to do in a fire and how to make a 111 call, including what the operator needs to know. The station even arranged for one of our Cubs to talk to a real 111 dispatcher, just like a genuine emergency call. We heard the siren and dispatch sounds from inside the station too!

Every Cub went home with a family meeting point sticker and a fire safety poster full of easy tips for keeping their whanau safe.

To finish, we got up close with two fire trucks: the crash unit loaded with specialist car crash equipment, and the ladder unit, which can reach about four storeys high. Seeing that ladder extend was a definite highlight.

Huge thanks to our local fire station for such a fun and valuable evening. Our Cubs left knowing so much more about fire safety and what it takes to keep our community safe.

What do spies, Scouts, and secret messages have in common?

This week our Cubs put their detective skills to the test with a code breaking and Morse code night! They worked together to crack secret messages, learnt how Morse code works, and even created and decoded their own messages.
Our final message to decode just happened to be our scout promise!

It's amazing to see our Cubs building problem solving, communication, and perseverance while having fun.

Our Cubs had a stellar night exploring the wonders of astronomy!

A huge thank you to Ken the astronomer for sharing his knowledge. The Cubs learned all about the Southern Cross, how to use it to find south, how the Moon was formed, and plenty of other fascinating facts about our night sky.

To finish the evening, everyone put their imaginations to work by designing their own unique constellations.

Our final combined Cubs and Scouts night for the term was a great way to wrap things up before the two week holiday break.

We spent the evening playing games, sharing plenty of laughs, and sitting down together for a shared dinner. Everyone brought along a plate of food that was special to their whānau, whether it was a favourite meal, a family recipe, something enjoyed on special occasions, or a dish connected to a special memory.

It was a wonderful way to work towards the Kai Better World Badge while enjoying good food and good company.

Thank you to everyone who brought a plate to share and helped make it such a memorable evening. We hope you all have a safe and relaxing holiday, and we look forward to seeing everyone back next term!

Our Cubs took on an important outdoor adventure skill... learning how to put up a tent!

The Cubs worked together, followed instructions, solved problems, and before long had their tent standing proudly and ready for action.

Learning practical outdoor skills like these helps build confidence, teamwork, and independence, while having plenty of fun along the way.

Well done Cubs! Next camping trip, you might be the experts teaching Mum and Dad!

Our Cubs got creative a few weeks ago, building bug houses from recycled containers, bamboo, twigs, moss, and leaf litter!

These little homes provide shelter for beneficial insects such as ladybirds, native bees, and other garden helpers. As well as learning about nature and conservation, the Cubs had plenty of fun designing cosy spaces for our tiny six-legged neighbours.

Keep an eye out around your garden, you might be surprised by who moves in!
