Newly released Stats for Tūhoe:
- 51,039 people affliated to Tūhoe in 2023
- 20.6% of Tūhoe had Level 3 certificate as their highest qualification in 2023
- 59.6% of Tūhoe were under the age of 30 years in 2023
- 81.5% of Iwi think their whānau is doing well
- 24.0% report feeling lonely some or most of the time.
- 70.7% of people have been to their ancestral marae in the past 12 months
- 29.1% of people report being able to speak Te Reo Māori well or very well
- 38.1% of people report being able to read Te Reo Maori well or very well
- 60.6% report speaking at least some Te Reo Māori in their own home
- 67.8% of Tūhoe know all of their pepeha, while 0% don’t
- 72.5% of people report Māori Cultural engagement as being very or quite important
- 2.8% of Tūhoe had a lot of difficulty remembering in 2023
- 97.8% of Tūhoe lived in Private dwellings in 2023
- 28.2% of the Tūhoe adult employed population worked in the Bay of Plenty region
- 50.9% of Tūhoe were wāhine, while 48.7% were tāne
- 19.8% of Tūhoe owned or partly owned their own house in 2023
- Overall 34.9% of Tūhoe could hold a conversation in Te Reo Maori in 2023
- 82.1% of Tūhoe worked in the Private sector in 2023
