We're incredibly grateful to receive a $10,000 grant from Pub Charity Limited, which has helped us buy new computers for our clinical team.

These upgrades made a real difference, helping our team to work efficiently and stay connected.

Thank you Pub Charity for your ongoing support of Rotorua Hospice and the work we do in our community.

A big thank you to our amazing knitting volunteers.

The hats and blankets you create help keep our patients warm and cosy. They mean so much to the people who receive them.

Our thanks to Jane, Larissa, Sue and the Glenbrae Knitting Group for all the hours you've spent knitting and crocheting for Hospice.

If you love to knit or crochet, we’d love you to join us! We've got lots of wool to choose from.

Contact Laura on 07 343 6591 or email [email protected] for more details.

When you Knit for Hospice, every stitch makes a difference ❤

As we wrap up our Hospice Awareness Week, we wanted to leave you with something practical.

Over the past week, we’ve talked about having the conversations, getting plans sorted, and learning more about how Hospice helps people and whānau through some of life’s hardest moments.

One of the most meaningful things you can do for the people you love is make your wishes known before they’re needed.

Our Peace of Mind Planner is available from Hospice Shop Rotorua, or online for $25. It has been designed to help you think through and record important information around your healthcare wishes, finances, funeral preferences, key contacts, and more.

It’s not about being morbid — it’s about creating clarity, reducing stress for your whānau, and bringing peace of mind.

You can purchase it here:

Thank you for following along with this year’s Hospice Awareness Week campaign. While the week may be wrapping up, the conversations don’t have to stop.

As part of Hospice Awareness Week No One’s Getting Out of Here Alive campaign, we’re sharing this video of the late Mala Grant, with permission from her whānau.

We first shared Mala’s story six years ago, and her words — along with the experiences shared by her whānau — continue to help people understand the role Hospice can play for patients and families living with life-ending illness.

At Rotorua Community Hospice, we support people in the place they call home — whether that’s their house, residential care, or alongside hospital teams. Our care includes specialist nursing support, equipment, personal care, guidance for whānau, and support to help people live every moment in whatever way is important to them.

If you’d like to learn more about how Hospice can help, you can find us at 1469 Hinemoa Street, Rotorua, call us on (07) 343 0265, or visit our website.

Thank you to Mala and her whānau for allowing us to continue sharing her story.

We felt very privileged to receive this letter from the family of Pat Anderson. Our thanks to Pat’s family for taking the time to write to us and for allowing us to share their beautiful letter.

At Hospice, our goal is to help people make the most of their lives and live every moment in whatever way is important to them.

We work alongside family and whānau, visiting patients in their homes, supporting their families to care for them.

You can read the full story on our website https://rotoruahospice.co.nz/stories/this-is-pats-story/

As part of Hospice Awareness Week, we’re encouraging people to have the conversations many of us put off, because No One's Getting Out of Here Alive.

Have you told someone:

✔ where your Will is kept?
✔ who speaks for you if needed?
✔ what matters most to you?

These conversations aren’t always easy — but they can make a huge difference for the people around us later.

Our “Win a Coffin” campaign might feel a little unexpected, but it’s all about helping people feel more comfortable talking about death, planning ahead, and making sure their wishes are understood.

Our Peace of Mind Guide, available from Hospice Shop Rotorua, can be a really helpful conversation starter for talking with whānau about your wishes and planning ahead.

Because having the conversations now can bring clarity, confidence, and peace of mind later.
