PREVIOUS UPDATE:
Kia ora everyone, just an update on the Orange Heavy Rain Warning MetService New Zealand has issued for the Bay of Plenty including Rotorua, which will be in place from 1pm tomorrow (Wednesday 21 January).

We know this news might be worrisome, especially to those districts who have experienced significant rainfall in the last few weeks. We are here and will keep you informed whenever there is updated information.

Streams and rivers may rise rapidly, and surface flooding is possible, so if you see rising water, do not wait for official warnings - head for higher ground and stay away from floodwater. Never try to walk, play, swim or drive in floodwater.

Slips, fallen trees and difficult driving conditions are possible, so please postpone travel and outdoor activities if you can.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with any updates. You can also stay up to date with the latest weather warning information from MetService New Zealand.

We’re aware of power outages elsewhere around the motu, so if you can, double check your emergency supplies & grab bag, change your devices and keep a torch handy.

Take care out there ❤
