Rotorua Sri Lankan Association

Rotorua Sri Lankan Association This page is to provide opportunities for the Sri Lankan community in Rotorua to study and practice the language, traditional values, and customs of Sri Lanka.

The Rotorua Sr Lankan association support migrants from Sri Lanka while they settle in Rotorua and provide the Sri Lankan community of Rotorua with opportunities to celebrate our own culture and festivals. We like to bring together the Sri Lankan migrant community in Rotorua irrespective of their ethnicity as Sri Lankans in New Zealand to represent and exchange the high values of our community and our culture with the main stream communities living in New Zealand

A big thank you to Mevan De Silva from Ceylon Cravings for representing the Rotorua Sri Lankan community at the โ€œTalk and Tasteโ€ event organised by Multicultural Rotorua for Family History Month at Te Aka Mauri โ€“ Rotorua Library! His delicious spread of traditional Sri Lankan dishes, including milk rice (kiribath), chicken curry, fish ambul thiyal, and caramelised onion relish, was beautifully presented and full of rich flavour and culture. It was a real crowd favourite and a wonderful way to share family heritage through food. ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ›

Your thoughtful contribution will be respected and cherished by many for years to come. Thank you for helping us preserve our heritage and strengthen our spiritual celebrations.
