🌳 Rongotea Lions – Cherry Tree Pruning Working Bee 🌸

This Sunday 16 August from 1pm, Rongotea Lions will be out around the village giving our cherry trees their annual tidy-up.

The team will be removing suckers, dead wood and any branches that are overhanging the road or getting where they shouldn’t be.

We’ll be meeting at the Rongotea Recreation Centre at 1pm before splitting into groups and heading out around the village.

Extra hands are very welcome! If you’d like to come along and help, bring some gloves and any loppers, secateurs, pruning saws or other suitable pruning gear you have. Utes and trailers for collecting the cuttings would also be appreciated.

If you’d prefer to just prune the cherry tree(s) outside your own house, feel free to do that too. Simply leave the cut branches beside the tree and our Lions crew will collect them as we make our way around the village.

Once the work is done, we’ll head to the tavern for a well-earned drink and catch-up.

Sunday 16 August | 1pm | Rongotea Recreation Centre

Weather permitting — the more hands, the quicker we’ll get around them all! 🌳✂️

🌻 Sunflower Fundraiser Update – Cancelled 🌻

Unfortunately, due to the recent storm our sunflowers have been badly damaged and destroyed. As a result, we have had to cancel this weekend’s sunflower fundraiser.

We’re incredibly disappointed, especially knowing how many of you were keen to support Hospice through this initiative.

Thank you so much to everyone who showed interest and offered support — we truly appreciate our community getting in behind us 💛

We’ll regroup and look at other ways we can continue raising funds for Hospice, and we’ll keep you posted.
