Cancer Society North Canterbury Everyday 74 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer, that's 1 in 3 Kiwi's that will be diagnosed! Cancer doesn't stop and with your help, we won't either.

Help us to make a difference in the lives of people affected both now and in the future. One in three New Zealanders will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. The Cancer Society provides free support services and information for people going through cancer treatment. We also fund important scientific cancer research and implement health promotion initiatives to reduce cancer for future generations. We receive no direct government funding and rely on the generosity of New Zealanders to provide these services. Cancer Society Of New Zealand Canterbury-West Coast Division Incorporated is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005, registration number CC10981.

This week has seen wonderful opportunities to connect with our community and raise awareness about the support available through the Cancer Society.

We were proud to attend a Health and Wellbeing Expo hosted by IRD for their staff, where we shared information about the Cancer Society and the many ways we support anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis, including patients, whānau, caregivers, friends and colleagues.

We also hosted a Cancer Nurses Network Forum, bringing together healthcare professionals for an evening of education, collaboration, and networking. It was fantastic to see nurses from across the region connecting, sharing knowledge, and strengthening relationships that ultimately benefit those affected by cancer.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, attended, and helped us spread the message that no one has to face cancer alone. 💛

The key thing to know: always talk to your treatment team if you're using or considering rongoā. Some remedies can change how your treatment works, so keeping everyone in the loop keeps you safe.

Apologies, this post was scheduled to go out last night, but we had a glitch in the system... and unfortunately have not been able to tag in all the amazing businesses that participated 😌

What a day it has been out in North Canterbury - the sun has been shining and the streets have been a-glow with yellow, daffodils and hope.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Daffodil Day 2026 and got in behind Paint the Town Yellow in Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Cheviot and Hanmer Springs, and anyone else who dressed up their businesses to support Daffodil Day. There has been so much thought, inspiration, care and love that has gone into the window designs - you have blown the judges away - thank you so much 💛💛
