The World Surf League event begins at Manu Bay next Friday and runs from 15 – 25 May.
Competition is expected to run on 4 – 6 days within the event window, depending on surf and weather conditions. Updates on whether it’s a competition day will be shared on the WSL Instagram and through event alerts at worldsurfleague.com.
Traffic management will be in place on competition days to help manage busy periods safely, while maintaining access for people who live or work in the area, and for emergency services.
Traffic management measures include:
• a managed vehicle checkpoint at Ngarunui Beach Road
• stop/go traffic management at the one-way bridge on Wainui Road
• managed public entry to Manu Bay, with spectator Park & Ride transport operating from Raglan Airfield
• resident and business access maintained through local access passes
• emergency access maintained at all times
Residents and businesses directly affected by the Ngarunui Beach Road checkpoint were hand-delivered letters last Friday, including access passes.
We’re aware some businesses may not be located near Manu Bay but may still need to travel through the area for work.
