The concrete footpath along Wainui Road before the one-lane bridge doesn't offer a very pleasant walking experience -- (feeling on the verge of unsafe!). So the Guerrilla Gardeners of Whaingaroa are working to carve a pleasant 'nature path' a meter or so away from the road. Thank you to our business supporter who provided the pavers! :-)

Our Kaupapa: We are a group of volunteers who look for ways to enhance public spaces in Whaingaroa. This means we engage in things like: picking up rubbish, working with Raglan W**d Busters to tackle roadside weeds, clipping growth that overhangs public footpaths, joining community planting efforts, maintaining reserve trails, raking/mowing road verges to create off-road trails for pedestrians.

Our Current Project: In 2023 our aim is to clear and mow a metre wide strip of grass to run parallel and slightly above the current concrete footpath that hugs the road kerb of Wainui Rd. (between the one-lane bridge and Helen Place). When individuals and families want a quieter, less hurried walking experience, we know they will enjoy the ‘People’s Path’ being carved out from the roadside verge space! :-)
