The Bucket Hat Foundation

The Bucket Hat Foundation Supporting Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer Our son was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in November 2020 at the age of 15. In August 2022, he relapsed.

After 14 rounds of chemotherapy and major limb salvage surgery he was cancer free. During the first year of his cancer battle, we had the incredible support of Starship and the umbrella of the Child Cancer services. When he relapsed at the age of 17, he was transferred to adult services. The difference between the 2 was eye opening. We found ourselves in a world that didn't make any sense for a 17

year old. We have started this charity to help those in a similar situation, to help navigate the way through adult services with a teenager or young adult. Our aim is to offer some support to teenagers/young adults and their families through comfort boxes filled with necessities when spending time on an adult hospital ward.
