Women's Support Motueka

Women's Support Motueka Striving for women and their families to be safe, well and empowered. We provide support and advocacy, counselling and community engagement.

All women are welcome to drop in. We support women dealing with abuse, addictions, depression, and other life challenges. We provide advocacy when dealing with the Police, Work and Income, Department of Corrections, lawyers, and doctors. Counselling to help women address challenges, whatever they are, and find ways of dealing with them more positively. Community awareness by providing information and education to agencies and partners on family violence and related issues. This is a completely free service.

What a beautiful evening, and what an incredible reminder of the aroha, generosity and care within our community. 💜

Our Gala Fundraiser was about more than raising funds. It was an opportunity to come together, to celebrate community, to raise awareness of family violence, and to recognise that behind every referral is a person, a child, a whānau and a community.

We are delighted to share our Gala 2026 story, including some very special moments from the evening and the many people who helped make it possible.

💜 September is Wills Month

For nearly 40 years, Women’s Support Motueka has been walking alongside wāhine and whānau in our community through some of life’s most difficult moments.

As we look towards the future, we want to make sure this support continues to be here for generations to come.

Leaving a gift in your will, no matter the size, is one way you can help create a lasting legacy of safety, support and hope within our community.

We know that considering a gift in your will is a very personal decision, and family and loved ones will always come first. For those who may wish to include a local charity as part of their legacy, we have created a bequest brochure with some simple information about leaving a gift to Women’s Support Motueka.

A huge thank you to Aubrie from Nelson Flower Company for donating not only her time and skills, but BUCKETS of flowers for our recent fundraising gala! Thanks to her, we were able to decorate each table with three jars of flowers - that's 30 total! Aubrie spent hours on Friday working her magic to help make our gala special!

With generous donations of flowers and foliage from two amazing community members, and flowers that Aubrie selected from her own stock, we were able to create not only the table arrangements, but the additional arrangements in the entrance, bathrooms and on the stage. Thank you so much!

This year, the focus for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is Tāone Reo Māori: Te Reo Towns.

It’s all about celebrating the communities that keep te reo Māori alive and encouraging towns across Aotearoa to make te reo something that is heard, seen and used in everyday life. Every town, street, workplace, and community has a part to play.

Here’s a little visual trick to help remember the pronunciation of our beautiful tāone!

Motu — island, or a clump of trees
Weka — our cheeky native weka

Beyond the beautiful art, experiences and products generously donated for our auction, so many local businesses and individuals are helping bring our Gala to life. From the food and beverages we will share, to the linen, décor and other special touches behind the scenes, their generosity will help create a wonderful evening for our guests.
