Living Violence Free

Living Violence Free EST. 1995

These hands will never be used in violence πŸ‘πŸ½ Living Violence Free (formerly Porirua Living Without Violence) has been established since 1995.

We have been working to enable our communities to live violence free by providing programmes that educate, support and empower. We have always been a strong member of the social service sector and work in collaboration with Community Organisations. We are a member of the National Network of Family Violence Services - which is a nation-wide network of community based organisations working to preven

t violence and abuse in New Zealand. Living Violence Free has contracts with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Social Development, the Department of Corrections and Oranga Tamariki β€” Ministry for Children, to cover the programmes we provide. These services are now delivered in Porirua, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt and Wellington. Living Violence Free operates and is managed by members of the wider community, who form the Management Committee of our organisation. How you can contact our services:

A Heartfelt Thank You!

As the year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of our generous donors. Your kindness and support have made a real difference in the communities we serve.

A very special thank you to Wildling Books for their incredible donation of books to our libraries. These provide so much comfort and encouragement for our women and children.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to ARISE Church in Porirua for providing Christmas food boxes for the families we see. Your generosity will help bring warmth, joy, and dignity to many homes during the festive season.

Ngā mihi maioha πŸ™πŸ’›

πŸŽ‚ He mihi nui β€” A big thank you! 🎁

The team at Living Violence Free, and especially our Tamariki Safety Programme, would like to give a huge mihi of gratitude to Pera and the Koha Tree and their generous gifters for supporting our Birthday Gift Initiative.

Each month, we’re able to celebrate our tamariki whose birthdays fall during their time in our programme - making sure each one feels seen, valued, and celebrated. πŸ’›

This November marks our second month of this pilot, and already we’ve seen so many smiles, moments of joy, and hearts uplifted.

Ngā mihi aroha ki a koutou katoa - thank you for helping us bring a little extra light into our tamariki’s lives. 🌿✨

Living Violence Free wish to thank Hutt City Council – Mouri Ora Fund for the most recent funding granted.

As an agency working in the area of Family Violence in Porirua, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt and Wellington this funding is greatly appreciated, and will be used towards the rental of our Lower Hutt premises.

We consider it a great privilege to work so closely with our communities within this sector, and your ongoing support allows us to continue to do this from a venue within their backyard β€” helping to remove a real barrier to those seeking support services.

Fakaaue Lahi oue tulou (Thank you) again! πŸ™πŸ˜Š

Do you feel like you're walking on eggshells? Are you often convinced you're going crazy, Does it feel like this relationship is all about them? Are you isolated and afraid?

Our Safety Programme provides support and education to enable you to become free from the cycle of abuse.

The Programme is open to women who are currently in abusive relationships and who need support to make positive choices in their lives; and to women who have been in abusive relationships and wish to heal from those experiences.

Women's Behaviour Change Programme:

Our Women's Behaviour Change Programme helps women address issues of anger, abuse or violence that they may be facing in their lives. For some women this anger may be related to having experienced abuse in their own lives. For others the pressure of everyday life (including financial pressures, pressures of parenting and so forth) may have become too much.

Our programmes teach a range of skills for how to deal with issues of anger, abuse and violence in respectful ways.

Living Violence Free would like to extend a huge thank you to the village at She Is Not Your Rehab, for the generous donation of 'This Is Not Yours To Carry'.

This pukapuka is beautifully written and illustrated, and conveys such an important message to tamariki!

We are truly grateful for you providing a much needed resource to community agencies such as ours. It is an invaluable reference for our kaimahi to have in our Tamariki Safety Programme, and will speak volumes to them long after they've attended our service.

We have shared some books among our Tāne and Wāhine Programmes as well, and they have been well received there also.

Thank you again for all of your amazing mahi and your valiant effort to equip all of us privileged enough to work in these spaces, with rich emotional literacy resources such as 'This Is Not Yours To Carry'.

We appreciate you and yours just as much as our tamariki and whānau do β€” ngā mihi maioha πŸ™πŸΎ
