Yesterday we hosted our annual Pink Ribbon Brunch at our Whitireia tari 💕
Each year we come together to tautoko one another, whakawhanaungatanga, share kai and kōrero about the importance of this kaupapa.
The message is always the same: wahine mā, get the girls checked. If you notice anything that feels off, book that appt, because early detection is our best protection.
💗 Mammograms are free for wāhine aged 45 and over, let your sisters, aunties, cousins and nannies know.
Ngā mihi nui to all who continue to support this kaupapa, especially our guest speaker Lynda Joseph and the Ngāti Toa Māori Women’s Welfare League. 💖

Happy Youth Week 2026! We’re celebrating the energy, resilience and potential of rangatahi in our community. At The 502 we believe that supporting rangatahi wellbeing goes beyond just physical health - it’s about nurturing mental, emotional, and social wellbeing too.

Youth Week is a reminder that every young person deserves to feel heard, supported and empowered. To all rangatahi - your voice matters, your story is important, and your future is full of possibility!

We kick-started Youth Week with 'Last Brain Standing' where rangatahi put their knowledge to the test with a Quiz and competed in some high-energy fun games to win cool prizes.
They also got to experience Atuatanga – an immersive VR game in te reo Māori that has been celebrated on a world stage! We want to mihi to creative director Wiremu Grace for his tautoko and support with this special treat.

We'll be continuing our Youth Week celebrations with 'Jam Sesh' tomorrow, Friday 22 May at Cobham Court from 12pm - 4pm. Be there for kai, games, giveaways, and some funky tunes courtesy of our amazing rangatahi!

COMMUNITY UPDATE: Measles – Wellington outbreak

A further case of measles has been confirmed in Wellington, bringing the total number of cases linked to the current outbreak to four. The source of infection for the most recent case is still unknown.

We ask everyone to stay alert and help prevent further spread.

What to look out for:
Runny nose, fever, cough, sore, red eyes, a rash that appears with fever.

Please be especially vigilant if you:
Have recently visited a location of interest
Have had contact with a confirmed measles case
Have returned from overseas travel in the past 21 days
Have not had two doses of the MMR vaccine or previously had measles

People who have had one or two MMR vaccinations may still get measles, but symptoms can be milder.

If you think you may have measles:

⚠️Stay at home, do not go to work, school, or public places
⚠️Call your doctor or health provider before visiting (do not walk in)
⚠️Tell them your symptoms and any recent travel or contact with a case
⚠️Wear a mask if you must leave home for urgent medical care
⚠️Avoid contact with others, especially babies, pregnant people, and those with weak immune systems

If symptoms are severe or you are very unwell, seek urgent medical help.

Let’s stay vigilant and protect our whānau and community.
