“Don’t Be Messay, Clean Our Communitay”

Week one was all about understanding what community means to our Kuābaks tamariki and rāngatahi 💫 Exploring their identity, where they belong, and the many ways people show up through acts of service. From learning about the different services around them, to recognising how they too can make a difference, our kids really took it all in.

To wrap it up our 2nd week we put those learnings into action 💪🏽 Our Kuābaks crew headed out into the Cannons Creek community and gave back through a clean up day. Showing care, respect, and pride for the spaces they’re part of. It wasn’t just about picking up rubbish, but about taking ownership, working together, and living out what it means to serve your community.

“Wherever you go, Porirua will always be your home.” 🏡

So proud of our young leaders for stepping up and making a positive impact. Small actions, big difference 🌱🧹

Thank God for a blessed term grounded in our theme of “community”. 🙌🏽 As we wrap up the first Kuābaks Holiday Programme for 2026, we reflect with gratitude on all that has been shared, built, and achieved together.

To our Kuābaks whānau, thank you for registering your tamariki and entrusting our team to care for them and create a space where they could learn, grow, and enjoy their holidays. Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen so much growth and development, with our rangatahi gaining new skills, confidence, and connections. 🌱 The future is bright, you are raising leaders who, one day, may return to serve and uplift the next generation. 💫

TERM 1 ⭐️
Juniors: Roman & Salvation
Middles: Jesse-Lee & Lorelei
Seniors: Imari & Khuaneu
Overall: Israel (Middles)

To our funders E Tū Whānau , Nuku Ora - an active Wellington region and Porirua City Council we thank you for your continued support in helping us provide opportunities like this for our tamariki and rangatahi.

To Windley School, we are grateful for the space and the ongoing love you show our programme and our kids.

And lastly, to our Kuābaks team, our volunteers, kitchen crew, and placement students - thank you for showing up with heart every single day. Your service, care, and dedication do not go unnoticed.

As we head into Term 2, we wish all our kids the very best as they return to school. “LOCK IN” and keep striving! 🤏🏾

And that’s a wrap for our very first KB’z Marketi ✨ “where everyone get’s a share”

Big thank you to all our families and friends for coming through to help support our kids and the kaupapa. To our community who came through and made the effort to visit each of the kids stalls, we thank you for taking the time out of your day to come and show your support.

Big ups to all our KB kids for putting together this market day and wanting to be able to give back to our community. We are all very proud of you and it showed today that this is what our programme is about. It will always be about our rangatahi.

Thank you to all those who continue to support us behind the scenes and throughout our holiday programme. Without any of our families, friends and community this day wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you for your continuous love and support from the KB’z ❤️‍🔥
