Lower Hutt Miniature Makers

Lower Hutt Miniature Makers We’re a friendly group of makers who love all things miniature! Join us to chat, learn new crafting skills, and share the joy of creating in small scales.

“Miniatures” incorporates most skills and hobbies – but in miniature. We dabble in woodworking, painting, sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, quilting, basketry, the list is endless and there is always someone in the Club who has a particular skill and is happy to share their knowledge. It is not only the men who like to use a hammer and saw, and conversely, it is not only the women who are skilled at

cross-stich. We usually work in 1/12th scale but we also work in 1/24th, 1/48th and even 1/144th for the people who have good magnifying glasses or have REALLY good eye-sight. Lower Hutt Miniature members come from the Wairarapa, Kapiti Coast, the Porirua Basin, Lower Hutt and Wellington areas. We meet every third Saturday of the month to share skills and learn new techniques. We have a National body which has 22 Clubs throughout New Zealand and every two years a Convention is held and exhibits from all Clubs are on show.

Photos were forgotten at the last club meeting, which was a bookcase in 1/24th scale. If you made Jill's workshop, pop a pic below so we can admire your work. Thank you for your mahi Jill!
Here's a different bookcase made by a member recently to help this post not get lost!

Our March workshop was almost lucky dip! We had a bunch of odds and ends kits that were donated, so members could pick something they wanted and put the kit together.
These were created by three of our newest members.

We are having a show! Stay tuned for more details about our show in July (18/19th).

Some finished sheds and a gazebo from recent workshops were on display at club on Saturday. There were still sheds and gazebos in the making, as well as two table designs on offer to make for your gazebo, or elsewhere! Thanks for sharing, Deborah, Maria and Sue B!
Thank you too, to Maria for her gazebo and table workshops, and Donna and Mavis for leading the shed workshop.

Time flew at our last club meeting as a number of us worked on this amazing kit by Jim Lowe.
Donna and Mavis led us through the process using new techniques and getting messy. While not quite complete everyone got a good way through the process leaving with resin ponds and painted sheds. We look forward to seeing the completed sheds.

And YOU can look forward to seeing some completed sheds at our show next year!
