What a catch! After meeting the Pelco team at the Seafood NZ Conference last month, they gifted us a full pallet of fresh trevally to help support our network.

Pelco is a Māori family owned, fishing business based in the Bay of Plenty. Their fish is sold locally and overseas providing an affordable protein source, with nothing going to waste — even the packaging is repurposed!

It’s inspiring to connect with organisations whose values and kaupapa align so closely with our own.

Ngā mihi nui to the Pelco team for their generosity.

We’re excited to be moving into the next phase of our partnership with Team Global Express, supporting NZFN as a logistics partner 💚

With their support, we’re able to move food more efficiently across Aotearoa — helping ensure it reaches our 60+ Food Hubs and the communities that need it most.

Managing surplus food at scale relies on strong partnerships like this. It means more good, nutritious food can get out the door and into the hands of the people who need it.

This partnership also goes beyond freight, with Team Global Express supporting our work through customer connections, surplus opportunities, and staff volunteering.

We’re grateful to have them alongside us in this mahi.

At the end of May, we had the privilege of attending the Seafood New Zealand and NZ Federation of Commercial Fishermen Conferences at Tākina in Wellington 🐟

We were honoured to be invited back for a second year to meet people from across the industry and share what we do—helping get good kaimoana to communities who need it most ❤️

These annual events are all about bringing people together to share ideas and look to the future. A big highlight for us was our National Partnerships Manager, Sophie, speaking at both events about how those in the seafood industry can support us with much-needed protein donations and the impact those donations have for whānau across the motu.

A massive thank you to the Seafood NZ Conference team for having us, and to everyone who stopped by for a kōrero—we really appreciate your support 🙌

Huge thanks to the amazing team at Wilcox for their continued support 💚

It’s incredible to see how their fresh produce is being shared across our network and reaching communities who need it most.

Food Hubs — we’d love to hear from you! How have you been using this produce, and what impact has it had?

This is what being part of a network is all about 💚

What’s plentiful in one region can be a real need in another — and it’s great to see that support moving across the motu and reaching the communities that rely on it.

The team at KiwiHarvest Invercargill shared how much this variety is helping the organisations and people they support, showing just how far one delivery can go.

Incredible to see this work in action 👏

Pyjama fun for everyone this National Pyjama Day 👏

We’re proud to be supporting our friends at the Kindness Collective Foundation for their annual PJ Project.

The PJ Project helps keep tamariki warm through the winter months by providing cosy pyjamas to those who need them most.

As one of our valued Food Hubs, we’re glad to be able to support such meaningful kaupapa.

Ngā mihi nui to the Kindness Collective team — incredible mahi as always 💚

We are delighted to announce that NZFN has been awarded Best Places to Work Gold-level certification.🌟🏅💛

Being a small team spread across the North & South Islands, receiving this level of recognition means so much to us. It reflects the culture built day-to-day by our people — grounded in care, collaboration, and shared purpose.

Being recognised by Best Places to Work is truly an honour, as they have looked across us as a whole and evaluated our organisation holistically alongside feedback from all NZFN staff. Thanks to EMA for sponsoring the certification process for us and their continued support of our work – including joining us for a special gold-themed afternoon tea last week.

Finally, and most importantly, thank you to our team for making this possible. 💚🙌👏🫶

As autumn wraps up, so does another incredible month of volunteering.🍃🍂🍁

In May, our volunteers packed more than 8,600 boxes — over 76,000kg of kai, including food parcels, fresh produce, and essential items — helping get good food to where it’s needed most.

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers across our Auckland and Christchurch Distribution Centres: Nestlé, Mars, Incorporated , Westpac NZ, Auckland Council, Hauraki Māori Trust Board, BNZ, TELUS Health, 2degrees, WTW, ANZ Aotearoa, Enviro NZ, Amazon Web Services, Thomson Reuters, LMAX Group, Marsh, Finance Now, IAG, and our amazing community volunteers 💚

So grateful for everyone who gave their time this month — incredible mahi all round 👏

Fresh produce really does make all the difference 💚

It’s great to see how the team at New Plymouth Community Foodbank are using these fresh, colourful ingredients to enhance their kai parcels.

Having access to both nutrition and variety means so much for the whānau receiving this support.

Massive thanks to the team for everything you do! 👏
