This Saturday 10th, we're heading out into our streets to walk and pray for our community.
As we walk, we'll be asking God to help us notice the people, places and things around us that we can pray for. Maybe it's a playground and we pray for the children and families who use it. Maybe it's a local business, a home, a school or simply someone we pass along the way.
We want to take a time to look around listen to God and pray for the community we're a part of.
And you don't have to be with us to join in. How could you pray for your own community this week? Take a walk around your neighbourhood, pray for the people you see, the homes you pass and the places that are important to your community. Let's be grateful for the communities we're part of and the poeple God has placed around us, while praying for His blessing and care over them.

Our big cross is now standing proudly out front, a simple but powerful reminder of who we are, what we believe and the hope we have in Jesus.

We love that it gives us a chance to show our community that God is at the heart of what we do and that our doors are open to everyone.

A HUGE shoutout and thank you to our wonderful volunteer (who would like to remain annoumous) for put the cross up for us. We're so grateful for your time, hard work and willingness to make is happen. What a blessing.

We love our tamariki and rangatahi, and making sure they feel seen, heard, included and celebrated is something we’re passionate about all year round.

This October, we’re just taking some extra time to highlight it! Tino Taonga means “precious treasure” and that’s exactly what our children and young people are.

Over the month, we’ll be sharing some of the ways God is working through our young people and celebrating the joy, creativity, questions, faith and energy they bring to our community.
We can't wait to share it with you, keep an eye out!!

The countdown is on. Only two weeks till our Meet the Candidates evening.
As many will know, Debbie Ngārewa-Packer has had to scale back her campaigning to be with her seriously ill mother. We acknowledge her commitment to her whanau and our thoughts and prayers are with her at this time. We are working to try and confirm another TPM candidate to speak on her behalf.
This election is going to be close. Come along and hear what the candidates have to say so you can make an informed vote - because it's not just your preferred candidate you need to think about. It's who they'll be in coalition with that matters too.

Family store news
Kindness goes both ways
One of the beautiful things about our Family Store is seeing how a simple act of generosity can create a ripple of kindness through our community.
A local man regularly collects bread to make lunches for children at a nearby school. Recently, he returned with a very special thank you for our team, a beautiful hand made bible cover filled with treats for the staff, including lollies, coffee, tea and other goodies.
He also brought a card from the children sharing their thanks for the yummy lunches they receive.
The wonderful staff realised his need and began setting aside some bread each day and having it ready to pick up. Our new friend was so appreciative he has been helping us every morning by putting out cones and opening out gates. He even fixed the hinges on the gate.
It was such a thoughtful surprise and a wonderful reminder that kindness is often return in the most unexpected ways. We're grateful that we are part of a community that supports each other.

Team shout out Robyn
We thought it would be time to introduce one of our newest team members to our Kāpiti Salvation whānau.
Robyn is one of those amazing people who seems to have a hand in a little bit of everything. She spent over 10 years working as a teacher's aide in primary schools before moving into hospitality and management.
Along the way, she discovered a real love for, not only food and cooking, but connecting with people and the community.
We can see already, how Robyn really enjoys helping people, having a chat, sharing a bit of advice when needed - and she's a really great hugger!
Looking for the positives and believing there's usually something good to be found, even when things don't quite go to plan! The phrase "A positive attitude doesn't mean ignoring the bad. It means choosing to look for the good, even when things are difficult," sums up Robyn's attitude to life.
Robyn's supported The Salvation Army through second-hand shopping for most of her life, now being on the other side of things and seeing how the funds raised are used, she thinks is pretty special. If you've had the privilege to meet Robyn in person, you will probably have noticed her, bright clothing, that's where that all comes from.
Outside of work, Robyn enjoys cooking, reading, art, and spending time with family and friends. Most of her life is spent with a soundtrack, whether it's classical when she's reading or something upbeat for those sunshine walks on the beach. Her favourite song is Dave Hause-Low, which reminds her that there is always going to be low points, but someone out there will love you regardless.
We love having Robyn on our team, she has fitted into the role like hand in glove. If you spot her around in those fab outfits, say hello!

He mihi whakamutunga mō Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

As Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori comes to a close, we hope it has encouraged us to keep learning, listening and using te reo Māori in our everyday lives.

From a simple kia ora, to learning a new word, sharing a whakataukī or having a go at a conversation, every little step matters.

He waka eke noa, we are all in this together.

May we continue to grow in understanding, connection and aroha, and keep making space for te reo Māori in our homes, our church and our community.

Kia kaha te reo Māori!
