Kapiti Living Without Violence

Kapiti Living Without Violence Kapiti Living Without Violence (KLWV) provide violence prevention and safety programmes for men and women throughout New Zealand.

KLWV believe in empowering our communities to live violence free lives through education and support. Kapiti Living Without Violence originated in 1989 under the name of Kapiti Coast Men For Non-Violence. We are a registered Charitable Trust with the aim to provide educational and counselling services to stop or prevent violence within family/whanau and the wider community. Kapiti Living Without V

iolence promotes, supports and nurtures non-violent relationships for self, whanau and community. Our staff are highly trained and experienced in the latest violence prevention services. We are a member of the National Network of Family Violence Services (Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga) and Voices Against Violence (an interagency collective of organisations that work collaboratively to reduce violence in the Kapiti Community). Kapiti Living Without Violence has contracts with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Social Development and the Department of Corrections to cover the programs we provide. While our face to face program work is completed in Kapiti, the changing nature of business, and technological advancements, has allowed us to provide victim support services and safety programs to men and women throughout New Zealand.

NZ Civil Defence are testing the Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system on Sunday 25 May, between 6-7pm ⚠️📲

If you have a hidden second phone for your safety, we recommend turning it off or putting it in flight mode for the duration of the test (6-7pm on Sunday 25 May) to ensure it’s not discovered when the nationwide Emergency Mobile Alert is sent.

Some mobile devices set to silent mode will still emit a sound when the Emergency Mobile Alert test is sent, so switching to flight mode or turning off your device is the only way to avoid the loud sound of the alert.

You can find more information about the Emergency Mobile Alert system, including a factsheet and list of FAQs at https://getready.govt.nz/prepared/ema
