Limited seats for this unique event co-hosted by and . This evening is about art, learning, connection and appreciation of diversity and our common ground with the Cooks Collective and members of Ōtautahi Christchurch’s former refugee communities.

A discussion about the work of internationally acclaimed artist 🎨 Matteo Pericoli will be chaired by Executive Director Jacqui Dillon and Bill Shipley, founder of Art for Human Rights, and will be followed by a delicious vegan traditional meal cooked by the former refugee women of the Cooks Collective.

This month’s topic is the Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill 📄, which passed its first Parliamentary reading in May 2026, and proposes that "woman" and "man" be defined in New Zealand legislation as "an adult human biological female/male".

This special show comprises of twenty contributions from individuals speaking to Sally from places of professional and/or personal concern about the Bill. These encourage us to reflect on why the Bill is being proposed and what it says about global politics at this time, and sets out arguments about the Bill in relation to sport, the law, science and health, human rights and identity.

On a Roll is a nonpartisan rangitahi-led campaign that’s urging young people to get on the electoral roll before the 25 October deadline ⏱.

It’s a myth, Singh says, that young people are apathetic. He encourages older people and politicians to get curious about what they care about and to "talk with" instead of "talking about" young people. His talk focuses on the need to strengthen and honour our fundamental right to vote so that this right becomes deeply imbedded in our cultural identity.

It was a privilege last Thursday to stand with the to honour the memory of 22-year-old Kurd Zhina Mahsa Amini who was killed four years ago in Iran. Her Kurdish name means ‘life’ and it is cruel irony that her death gave life to the Woman Life Freedom uprising.
