Ngā mihi to and Te Puna o Waiwhetū for supporting our human rights mahi at last Monday's screening of , a 1957 Soviet war drama directed by . An old film with modern parallels about the emotional impact war has on ordinary people - very sadly, an age-old motif.

Our Ōtautahi team was able to segway from Soviet Russia to the terrible suffering of the people of South Sudan and Amnesty's current petition www.amnesty.org/en/petition/demand-an-arms-embargo-in-sudan/.

Our thanks to all those who engaged with interest and questions and who signed. 🙏🙏🙏

Last night at Ōtautahi’s Bridge of Remembrance, we stood with the Chinese diaspora and other supporters to remember Tiananmen Square, 4 June 1989 — the dead, the wounded, the imprisoned, and the disappeared.

Memory matters.
Truth matters.
Courage matters.
Love matters.

We stand with all who long for their children to grow up in freedom, dignity, and peace.

Rangimārie me te aroha ❤️‍🔥

Join us tonight at 7-8pm, Bridge of Rememberance, for our annual Tiananmen Square to pay silent homage to the hundreds and thousands who died at Tienanmen Square in 1989. Candles provided. Wear a mask if you wish.

Amnesty supports those who work to keep the memory of Tiananmen alive, honour the dead and the grieving families, and works to keep alight the flame for justice.

Lest we forget 💞

roots keep a quiet promise
spring waits in the dark'

See you again with smiles, goodwill and great Spring 🌱plants at and at the start of September. Mā te wā.
