An emergency can happen anywhere, and whenever there's no phone coverage, a beacon is your best chance of signalling for help.
Activating the beacon sends a signal via satellite, telling the authorities you need urgent assistance and including your location so rescuers can get there quickly.
In New Zealand, 90 percent of land-based rescues that start with a beacon activation are completed in less than six hours. Without a beacon, 90 percent are completed in 17 hours.
April 6th is international . It is named after the frequency of the beacon signal, which has helped save the lives of countless people, all over the world.
A beacon can save your life. Hire or buy one for your next trip.
