It’s that time of year again! Bookings are officially **OPEN** for the annual Auckland Council inorganic collection. For Waiata Shores, the collection window will be during the **last week of September and the first few days of October**.
This service is already covered by your property rates, so you don't pay anything extra—but you **must book ahead of time**.
> **Pro Tip:** Even if you aren't sure you'll need it, book anyway! You can't request a pickup after the cutoff date, and it’s better to have the slot and not use it than to miss out entirely.

# # # 📋 The Golden Rules of Inorganic Collection
To ensure the council actually takes your items, make sure you follow these guidelines:
* **Volume Limit:** You are allowed a maximum of **1 cubic metre** of waste (roughly equivalent to a small trailer load).
* **Placement:** Items must be placed **inside your property boundary** (e.g., on your driveway or front lawn), not out on the footpath or roadside.
* **Item Weight:** No single item should weigh more than **55kg** (two people must be able to lift it easily).
* **What is ACCEPTED:**
* Large appliances (fridges, washing machines)
* Furniture (couches, tables, chairs)
* Electronics (TVs, computers)
* Lawnmowers and barbecues
* **What is REJECTED:**
* General household rubbish bags or green waste (garden clippings)
* Construction/renovation waste (concrete, bricks, plasterboard)
* Hazardous materials (paints, chemicals, car batteries, tyres)
