What a weekend, the weather gods sent rain just to add to the fun! It was our basic bush craft camp out at Camp Kilsby. During the weekend the cadets had instruction on selecting a campsite, putting up a tent and taking it down in the rain, which were then partially dried in the hut. Ratel battle ships along with navigation, as well as cooking their own meals. At the end of the weekend they learnt new skills, how to use a broom and mop!

This National Volunteer Week, we recognise and thank the dedicated volunteers who make the New Zealand Cadet Forces possible. Across the country, our officers, instructors, support staff, committee members, and adult volunteers generously give their time, skills, and experience to create opportunities that have a lasting impact on young New Zealanders.

Their commitment goes far beyond weekly parades and activities. Through leadership, mentorship, and service, they help develop confident, capable, and community-minded young people.

As our organisation continues to grow and provide opportunities for more youth across New Zealand, the contribution of volunteers remains as important as ever. Whether sharing professional expertise, supporting behind the scenes, or mentoring the next generation, there are many ways to make a difference and become part of the NZCF community.

To all of our volunteers, thank you for the countless hours you contribute and for the difference you make every day. Your passion and dedication are at the heart of the New Zealand Cadet Forces, and we are proud to celebrate and acknowledge your service during National Volunteer Week.

Laura from our Unit Support Committee Dared to take the challenge and took on Project: “10 Squadron’s new website”.

Today our cadets went flying- most for the first time.
They all came back smiling from ear to ear saying how much fun it was.

A huge thank you to the Feilding Flying club for all your help today and getting these cadets in the air.

A video of the 10SQN cadets and Palmerston North Cadet Unit cadets laying wreaths at the Dawn service.
This dedicated team arrived at 5am to practice before the service. They did incredibly well and represented both units to a high standard.

Was a crisp morning here in Palmerston North. A beautiful Dawn service and then a sunny (and slightly warmer) 9am Civic service. To all our new Cadets at their first Dawn service, you did well.

Corporal Teoh-Hook & LAC Rider were part of the team along side PNCU to lay the wreaths at the Dawn service.

Today we Remember them.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
