What a few weeks we’ve had. A big thank you to Mr Cassidy for coming in and talking about personal survival and what is needed to achieve this. Then we we visited BCC, (Butterfly Compassion Community) where we helped but packing boxes for those in need of them, sort clothing and shoes out to ensure they were in pairs.
Liz Webster from Eclipse Wellness came along and helped with PT night by instructing the cadets in yoga. To top it all off we had a trip to the National Army Museum.

✈️ TERMINOLOGY TUESDAY ✈️

The New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) use the standard NATO Phonetic Alphabet for radio communications and spelling words clearly.

Why It Is Used?
* Clarity: It stops people from mixing up similar-sounding letters (like "B" and "D") over noisy radios.

* Standardization: It matches the system used by the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) and international military and aviation groups.

Just a reminder to our cadets that tonight we are meeting at the BCC at our regular parade night start time!!

If your teenager is interested in joining the Air force (or even the Army or Navy) after high school then Air Cadets is a great stepping stone into the forces. We have had many cadets over the years go on to join the forces after their time at 10 Squadron.

Charlotte is one of those past cadets who went onto join the forces and continues to do amazing work in the community.

On Friday our unit Mascot Sabre went on a trip with Laura from our Support Committee to help her out with some work on a new section on our website (which is now live can you find it?).

Sabre also went to check out how our new unit merch was coming along at the printers.. Print HQ have done an awesome job on our merch and was cool to see the process of how its done.

We received a special delivery yesterday.. to our current cadets can you guess what they are??

What an end to the term. The last 3 days members of the unit were joined with cadets from other Units to make a team up and to compete in 2026 Central Area Aviation Skills Competition held at RNZAF Base Ohakea. They competed against 12 other Units from the Central Area in a number of stands, from Aircraft Marshalling to Tent Assembly (which is not as simple as its sounds because they have to put a 14x14 frame up in the deep end of the pool then move it into the shallow end without it falling apart!).
There will be more pictures of the competition to follow.
Well done team
