New Zealand Nuclear Test Veteran's Association

New Zealand Nuclear Test Veteran's Association NZNTVA (New Zealand Nuclear Test Veteran's Association) is a Charitable Trust, set up to pursue acknowledgement and recognition of Nuclear Veterans.

New Zealand Nuclear Test Veteran's Association was set up in the late 90's to address compounding health issues faced by Nuclear Veteran's of Operation Grapple. (British Nuclear Weapons Testing, Christmas Island, 1957-8) In 2007, NZNTVA commissioned the Cytogenic Analysis and Psychological Study at the Institute of Molecular Bio Sciences, Massey University, Palmerston North, carried out by Associa

te Professor Al Rowland. This study found that the RNZN Veteran's of Operation Grapple, had been subjected to the same level of radiation as those involved in the clean up of the Chernobyl Disaster. NZNTVA continues to fight for these Veteran's, whose health is suffering. Many have died from cancers and other radiation related illnesses. NZNTVA's aim is to now ascertain if DNA damage has been passed on to the Veteran's Children, many of whom are also experiencing health issues, while continuing to support the few Veteran's that remain.
