We had another great Training Session this week at CAB Palmerston North. Angela and Rebecca from
Kāinga Ora gave us a great presentation, from which we all enjoyed the discussion afterwards. Did you know that there are more than 1500 Kāinga Ora homes in Palmerston North?

The New Zealand Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care recommended creating a website to help people find out how to request files and records made by organisations involved in their guardianship or care. Survivors wanted this resource to be independent of Government, so the Citizens Advice Bureau was commissioned to create the website.

This is called Kōnae: My Records Guide konae.org.nz.

Kōnae has information about more than 60 state and faith-based organisations that have records for over 800 homes and places in Aotearoa New Zealand. Those past and present places include children’s homes, hospitals, orphanages, boarding schools, Youth Justice facilities and many more.

If you want support to use the website, search the map or find your records, you can get in touch with your local CAB on 0800 367 222, email or message via cab.org.nz, or visit a CAB near you: cab.org.nz/find-a-cab
