Te Whare Koha Highbury:  Te Roopu Oranga O Highbury Trust To improve the health and well-being of the Highbury community and surrounding suburbs, by providing free food and clothing to whānau in the area.

We receive donations from the community, everything donated to us is given free and no questions asked. Kia ora whānau,

Te Whare Koha Highbury is a registered charity located at 42 Pembroke Street Highbury. We have been operating for 10 years. We are open Monday to Friday 9-12. We provide free food, clothing, toys, shoes, linen, kitchenware, furniture and more! We support all of Palmerston North

and surrounding suburbs. There are no questions or criteria asked. Anyone and everyone is welcome. We accept all donations in good condition, that isn't ripped or stained and still in working order, anything that may help families in need. We have a small community garden that is looked after by volunteers and the Manawatū Food Action Network. The gardens are freely accessible to everyone, and anyone can take from them. We collect food from other community groups around the Manawatū and some of the school lunch providers, the community is welcome to donate food. We accept all unopened food items that are still within their best before or after expired dates. We are always looking for new volunteers, sponsors, initiatives and ideas to help us help the community. Today we attended the Volunteer Central awards here in Palmerston North where two of our beautiful wahine were nominated for awards for 2026 👏🏽👏🏽

Quite often places like ourselves rely heavily on the support of volunteers to remain operational.

The Love, time, energy, passion and dedication that these 2 individuals have been giving both Te Whare Koha Highbury: Te Roopu Oranga O Highbury Trust and Te Whare Aroha Op Shop is beyond words. As a whole team and community we thank not only these 2, but both teams at our Koha store and also our op shop. Without volunteers we would not be able to function.

A massive 58 volunteers were nominated this year in this region alone so well done to all.

Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.
(With your food basket and my food basket, the people will thrive.)

This is a beautiful proverb about collaboration. It acknowledges that when everyone contributes what they have, the whole community flourishes.

Print out yourself or pop in to Te Whare Koha Highbury: Te Roopu Oranga O Highbury Trust From Next Monday onwards during opening hours to pickup one, get the CHILDREN to colour it in and pop in back by the 8th of July.
