Our Central squad going to the World Cup in Benidorm, Spain 🇪🇸🇳🇿

Some members of the team begin their journey today with the rest departing early this week.

The competition will run from 29th September through until 3rd October. An online spreadsheet has been made to view time and event schedule for central members for those at home who want to watch the live stream and support our athletes.

Hi Central, we have decided to help advertise our Central Region competition development (CRCD) squad we are doing athlete spotlight posts. This is to both showcase the amazing athletes we have in our squad and all the hard work they put in as well as advertise to the rest of the region what they could choose to be a part of!

The CRCD squad, co-instructed by Mr Dane Canton (V Dan) patterns World champion and Mr Bailey Jeffery (II Dan) sparring World Cup champion & specialty world champ medalist. CRCD is open to ages 12 plus, green belt and above who want to further their tournament development in an environment that is more athlete focused than regular club training. We are always recruiting new members. If you are interested in a free trial please contact your instructor or a current squad member/coach.

- What is one goal for the future you have in Taekwon-Do? Grade to 1st DAN.

- What competition or moment are you most proud of and why? Winning Gold in power at Nationals 2024 at my first attempt

- As an athlete what is the toughest challenge you have? Age – My body cant do everything my mind wants to

- What does being a part of the Central Region development squad mean to you? The training is great but it is the support and mental side of competition that really benefits

- What do you do when you’re not training? Work – train – eat - sleep - repeat

- What song would you choose as your walkout song? Motorhead – The Game

- What motivates you to keep pushing when things get hard? Stubbornness – I push my self to the limit often because I want to be better

- Any pre competition rituals? Not really – I like to zone out with thrash metal music

- What would you say to someone who is thinking about coming to a squad training but nervous to try? You will know somebody there and they were in the same position when they started. Be prepared for hard work but fantastic support.
