This Saturday sees three teams from the Manawatu Golf Club in the finals of the Manawatu Wanganui Golf Association’s pennant competition being hosted by Foxton Golf club this year.
Playing over potentially 36-holes the Women’s Championship team of Rebecca Hopper and Lindy Wheeler play Feilding A in the final. The ladies tee off at 8.00am then again at 11.45am for round 2. A big thankyou to Rebecca for coming in at the last minute to cover for injury and we wish them all the best.

The Men’s 18-hole A-grade team who have the difficult challenge of playing Foxton on their own course is Adam Orlowski, Micah Bremner, Daniel Haretuku, Greg Shaw, Steven Charles & Craig Nash. The match starts from 11.18am. The round robin matches between our team and Foxton have been close with a 5.5 to 3.5 win at Foxton and 4.5 - 4.5 draw at home.

The Men’s 18-hole B-grade team play Buckly in their final. The team is Morgan Bradley, Brendan Johnstone, Shane Hearn, Brett Doolan, Steven Bamford & Ricky Pene. Reserve is James Crawley. The match starts from 10.54am. The B’s had a tough road to the final, having to play the 3 other top contenders in the closing rounds. In the round robins our team bet Buckley at home 6.5 to 2.5 but were well beaten away 7.5 to 1.5.
It would great to see lots of supporters encouraging the teams on Saturday. A big thanks to Ace Electrics for sponsoring our pennant teams this season.

MGC women made the short trip to Feilding for our annual Canadian Salver showdown — clubs packed, layers on, and optimism high.
A brisk start (the kind where you question your life choices on the first tee) gave way to a magic day for golf, with Feilding turning on the sunshine and the hospitality
We put up a great fight, but Feilding managed to hang on to the trophy, 32.36 to 29.07 — we’ll get it back next time
Huge thanks to our team for flying the MGC flag, and we’re already looking forward to hosting Feilding next year!

We are very proud of Josh Hartwell and acknowledge his award at the Manawatu Sports Awards. Josh won the 'Resilience Award'. This video is a really great watch and celebrates Josh's journey which the Manawatu Golf Club are proud to be part of.

Our thoughts are with Andre and Nikki as they support their family through some incredibly tough times.
Prioritising family and being there for Grandkids Saoirse and Gaia was one of the main reasons Andre chose to leave his Golf Ops role at MGC last month, after 21 years at the Club.

Whitney Gilbertson has been told her cancer has spread and is now terminal.

The last round of the Men's 18-hole pennants saw the Ace Electrics sponsored A-grade team beat Hawkestone away 6 games to 3. The B-grade team bet Waimarino at our home 5 to 4 and the C-grade team playing Sunday went down to Foxton 3 to 6. The final results see the A-grade playing Foxton and the B-grade team playing Buckley in the finals. Unfortunately the C-grade just miss out making the finals this year but should be very proud of their season with the majority of the team new to MWGA pennants. The finals are on June 20th at Foxton golf club
