This month we farewelled our Board Chair, Daniel Iose who has served on the Niuvaka Trust Board since 2022.
We want to acknowledge Daniel’s contribution to the growth and development of Niuvaka where we came from humble beginnings, Daniel has guided us with a calm and pragmatic approach and helped shape the Niuvaka journey over the last four years to where we are today.
Although Daniel is moving on to a new journey, the seeds he has planted will continue to grow long after he has gone and will continue to live on through the people and communities he has impacted.
We are grateful to Jim from JS Carvings for carving the art piece gifted to Daniel that represents connection, belonging, and the relationships that Daniel has built throughout his time with us. As Daniel embarks on his next journey, he will take a piece of the Niuvaka aiga with him and equally will leave a piece of himself and his legacy behind with us. The carving also represents ancestors, elders, and those who journeyed before us, acknowledging the sacrifices made by those who came before, creating opportunities and pathways for future generations which Daniel has done during his time with us at Niuvaka.
Jim’s carving speaks to Daniel’s story and journey with Niuvaka over the last four years and serves as a reminder of the impact Daniel has had on us, our organisation, and the Pasifika communities he has helped support during his time as the Niuvaka Board Chair.
