The club's Memorial Trust has just completed a record year of giving with grants to young people to enable them to participate in life-changing experiences:
• Four have been on Outward Bound courses and one on the Spirit of Adventure.
• Competing in the World Junior Squash Championships in Egypt
• Competing in Tri-Nations Indoor Netball in South Africa
• Two participated in the Science & Technology Forum
• Able to join the Manawatu Netball age-group training squad
• A year 8 end of year school activities programme
• A team chosen to go to Sydney for an academic competition focusing on collaborative problem solving

A comprehensive report has been received regarding the latest Outward Bound participants.
Some highlights are:
“They can be proud of themselves, and Manawatu will be an amazing place to visit in 5-10 years once they’ve had the opportunity to grow into the splendid humans that they already are.”
“I would like to say to you more than thanks. No words can describe the experiences and memories I have gotten from this course and how valuable it has been for me."
In the results of an evaluation at the end of the course, 80% said:
“they had the motivation to give back and were leaving a better person”

We had this heartfelt message from a family today, in appreciation of our StarLight Joy Christmas gifts:

“I did want to say thank you for the gift bag at christmas time. Our kids each got one of the teddy bears and they both love them and take them to bed each night.”
