"Remembering the few" today, 15th September marks the 86th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The photo is of Sir Keith Park, a New Zealander, from Thames, who was instrumental in the campaign's success, just one of the 135 Kiwis who were part of the RAF's Fighter Command during that time.

A very cool activity for Cadets with some of 40 SQN, who took the opportunity to get up close with the RNZAF at Base AKL the other weekend as part of Exercise Wise Owl 2026. This was a neat experience to meet and chat with the Airforce's newest pilots and learn some of the technicalities of the NH90's from 3 SQN. Big thanks to all the Royal New Zealand Air Force personnel who took the time to inspire our cadets!

Profiling some of our NCO's and their achievements this year, really highlight the opportunities available to Cadets. It was a big start to the year for 40 SQN with our team taking part in some of the best available to our future leaders of tomorrow! Congrats to FSGT Neizel for Navigation, SGT Anderson who took part in Land Immersion. CWO Fariz and FSGT Tomlinson for achieving Powered Solo, which also featured on TVNZ's Seven Sharp earlier in the year. Plus, it was always going to be smiles from FSGT Tomlinson with the opportunity to share a lift with the RNZAF for the Cadet Advanced Leadership course held last month. The course brought cadets from all branches across the country to focus on the importance of servant leadership.
