The Tui Truck Stop Show and Shine was held today at Tui Brewery. 124 trucks turned up, giving spectators plenty of variety. Big and small, old and new. The Lions were on hand to make sure everyone had a place to park. Lots of spectators were around by lunch time checking out the trucks and eating the wide range of food and drinks on offer. This free family is great for all ages.

We hope you all enjoyed our rejigged Halloween 2025 The weather just did not allow our normal event at Carnival Park, this year, but we still managed to distribute 70kg of lollies to those attending. Thanks the members of the Tararua College 1stXV. You did a great job with setup and pack down. We always appreciate your willingness to give us a hand. Also thanks to all the parents for your efforts with the costumes that really added to atmosphere of the event. Your children were all delightful and well behaved. It is a credit to Pahiatua parents that we have so many lovely young people in our town. Finally thanks to the weather for finally giving us a break.

From 5.30 come down to the grassy area by the wheel park for a smaller version of our Halloween event. We finish up at 6.30 so get in quick. Lolly scramble every 15 mins ๐Ÿญ

Change of venue for Halloween night this year , to the grassy area beside the wheel park Princess Street . Sadly we have had to make this change due to the wet weather and itโ€™s unsafe to be in the forest at Carnival Park.

5.30 till 6.30 come trick or treating with the Pahiatua lions club . Lolly scramble every quarter hour
We still have lots of lollies to hand out

Here we go Pahiatua! Wash those fancy vehicles, hook up those trailers, dust of that tinsel, button up some festive attire and fill those buckets with lollies - it's parade time soon! Watch the streets come alive with colourful floats, and of course, Santa himself!
Held in conjuntion with the Pahiatua Lions Club, thanks team!

This week the Lions held their Annual Young Speechmakers Competition. 8 schools competed, and as in past years the standard of the competition was very high. Judges had a difficult job deciding on a winner, who was Jai Morrison from Saint Anthony's with an excellent speech on UFOs. Zara Benoit from Makuri School spoke on the Ills of social media for 2nd place, and 3rd place went to Willow Parsons from Pahiatua School with a speech on giving speeches.

The 3 judges with the tough task were Hans Welling from the club, Shalini Prasad an English Teacher from Tararua College and Jaydah Brownie who won the Tararua College speech competition. The club would like to thank them for their efforts. It is never an easy job deciding on the top 3.

A good crowd was in attendance, and all the students acquitted themselves well. After an entertaining evening, a tasty supper and the presentation of awards everyone departed until next year. Well done to all the students that competed and congratulations to Jai, Zara and Willow. The art of giving a good speech is a skill that is useful to master.
